A bit of vintage Furry weirdness and a feline love story, anthropomorphic cats from a 1942 ad for Calvert Blended Whiskey...

Black and white ink wash illustration of a striped cat taking a shower. His head is oversized and realistic but rather kittenish-looking. His body is extremely stylized and cartoony, like a generic cartoon animal with short legs. Text: "1. Thomas, a Robust Tenor, could take high C in his stride He'd sing the whole sextet from "Lucia" without Wilting a Whisker. But who wants to sing (or live) unaccompanied?"
A white cat in 1940s style woman's make-up and a 1940s evening gown, playing the piano. She is much more anthropomorphized than the tom cat, being basically a woman with a cat's head and paws. Text: "2. Enter Felice, the original Kitten on the Keys. She played piano like a Four-handed Paderewski. So when she met Thomas at a Fish Supper, they were Like That in No Time."
Felice the white cat is playing piano while Thomas the striped cat is singing. Apart from her tail and oversized head she is basically shaped like a human woman in evening dress with heavy makeup. He, however, remains cartoony, with a fairly realistic cat's head and white tie and tails but no pants. Text: "3. When Thomas and Felice said, "I do," it was a glorious Merger of Talents. You might even call it a "Happy Blending". That's what everyone calls CALVERT'S Skillful Mating of fine whiskey characteristics into One Superb Blend."
