Does anyone else feel like the distain and complete dismissal of the “miscommunication trope” is….weird? Like isn’t that just conflict stemming directly from the characters flaws (especially a fear of vulnerability)? Which is a very human, bordering on universal, conflict to have. Do you want the characters to speak and act perfectly every time? I don’t get it someone explain

anyway…. writing rambling tropes story tropes obviously there’s ways to do it badly but that’s true with every story device I feel like when I first started hearing about it especially negatively it was about really contrived misunderstandings from external forces like character a only overhearing half of what characters said but now it’s any character driven conflict like yeah it’s supposed to upset you it’s conflict but if you know exactly why that conflict is happening then that’s a good thing it’s 5 AM rn idk miscommunication trope
