I remembered that some octopi can change colors, so what if octozai can change colors and mimicked Chuuya with a fake hat? 😮
I had so much fun doing the costumes, but I regret my sudden impulse decision to make the background a bunch of lines bc it took forever 😐
I have an idea for a comic but I wanted to share it in case I don’t have time to make it.
It’s a Chuuya vs Fukichi fight where Chuuya attacks and he couldn’t dodge a strike from the sword fast enough, so it gets caught in his shoulder. This way though, Fukichi can’t use it so Chuuya is able to beat it.
Imagine, after crushing Fukichi’s skull with his powers, the sword falls and he collapses, staring at the sky as it goes blurry.
Dazai shows up, and he stares down at Chuuya with the most worried expression
This ends with the shoulder being too big of an injury and Chuuya ends up losing that arm completely. I was considering a different injury, like he loses the opposite eye that Dazai always covered in his mafia days as he barely dodges a strike that would have beheaded him.
Every time I watch Banana Fish i get sad so I haven’t worked on this as much. But I have come up with an unfinished list of characters that may be changed in the future as I flesh this au out more :)

(Good news is he was always an escape artist, but Chuuya hasn’t thought of that yet)

Past and Details Below!!! (Not all details are cemented so things might change?)
Parents die in an accident and kid Chuuya is in hospital
Decide whether stolen by an evil lab thing and proclaimed dead or if he escapes (if he runs away he’s older if lab route he’s younger)
Lab route: stolen by a lab that specializes in villain tech and making superhuman powers by testing on kids
Chuuya escapes and accidentally is bit by another test subject, the spider

Chuuya escapes and is picked up by the Sheep. He’s their thief and though he mostly hides his powers they do use him for his strengths
Chuuya is caught during a robbery and the sheep leave him behind
Murase takes Chuuya in and tries to convince him to do good. Chuuya says he’s full of shit
Supervillain Verlaine shows up and kills Murase. Chuuya remembers his words and becomes Spider-Man
Chuuya is taken in by a group of heroes/vigilantes called The Flags who promise to give him a home and show him the ropes
They die from Verlaine as well (sorry Chuuya)
Chuuya defeats Verlaine and cements his role as the hero of his city
Decides to keep his distance from everyone because of previous losses
Meets a cute boy in a cafe and has a short conversation where they just click. They exchange numbers and Chuuya debates if he should make an exception to his rule
Before he can ever meet up with that cute boy again, he dies
Decide if it should be a villain and Chuuya thinks it’s his fault, or if it’s something unavoidable like an undetected illness
Or maybe it’s a multiverses rule that this person dies??? Hmmmmm wonder who that can be???

Chuuya is a marine biologist/aquatic veterinarian who finds an injured tiny octopus and heals him then keeps him around until he’s all better
Dazai can’t shift back until he’s healed bc it takes energy or something
Either Chuuya releases him and he comes back in full mer form or a human form or he shifts back while in captivity and is just as clingy and affectionate as usual confusing the hell out of Chuuya and his coworkers

AU where Dazai somehow ends up in Beast Universe & confronts Port Mafia's broken boss, gone mad from despair.
Chuuya expects this Dazai to be another hallucination but instead feels a gentle hand to his face that he's never experienced before as No Longer Human soothes his rage.

Slug and Snail
Look at this serious mafia executive with his serious expression and serious suit and serious hat and... cat.
Chuuya loves his cat very much and I love both of them so. HERE ARE SOME RANDOM FACTS/THOUGHTS ABOUT THEM IN MY SOULMATE-PETS-AU:
The cat is named Snail because he likes hiding under Chuuya's hat/other things and it looks like he has a snail shell. (But I came up with the name because whenever I draw cats they look like snails at first)
Snail is super quiet. So much that it's creepy, like the cat doesn't make a single noise and just stares at you. Very much PM Dazai vibes, which makes sense since they're soulmates and the pet matches you AND your soulmate, but mostly the soumate. Gets trickier with multiple soulmates but thats besides the point-
Snail is quiet, but the moment Chuuya sits down to pet it. oh boy you cat hear this cat a mile away. Also it mrrp's at Dazai whenever it sees him. Which is not something Snail does. So that confused the young soukoku. Chuuya used to say that it's so displeased to see him, that it's making noise.. Then Snail jumped on Dazai's lap one day. (And I already talked about the whole "if the pet doesn't hate you, you are soulmates")
This cat loves water. It takes showers with Chuuya
It gets carried around like a baby because Snail is baby. Little scrunkly. Such a lil guy. Teeny tiny stinky man.
Also it's stinky. Yes it likes water, but it also likes crab. Because of course it does. And so Snail smells like crab from a can. Chuuya smells a little bit like crab too sometimes because of it
Snail likes to annoy Chuuya and mess with his paperwork just as much as Dazai. Chuuya gets back at it by not giving it treats for some time
