Your gateway to endless inspiration
for as much as i (and seemingly most people) love columbo, i even more so love stumbling upon the exceedingly rare specimen driven to madness with hatred for a tacky, pube-headed mussolini
Mike Farrell had the perfect mustache to be a Columbo villian. It's a damn shame the stars never aligned. :(
Alrighty, it's been about a year since I've joined Tumblr and half of that year has been with this blog, so I guess I'll make an "introduction" post.
Hi! I'm Lizardwoman (or Becca if you're really brave) and I like things.
Film and TV history (I'm a film major in college and I'm really digging learning about the history of everything)
Discworld and all things Pratchett
Columbo
The Mysterious Benedict Society
Series of Unfortunate Events
Jeffrey Combs
Doctor Who
And about a billion things more. If somethings not listed, that doesn't mean I'm not a fan it just means I have a really sucky memory.
One of my New Year's resolutions is to interact in some fandoms more and overall just put myself out there and be more confident. (This will most likely include poorly drawn fanart, so this is your one and only warning.)
Overall though, all of my social media's are dedicated to messing with friends. This means if you see me bickering with two art blogs, don't fret.
Okay thanks đ
Step 1: Open Tumblr
Step 2: Look up Columbo tags
Step 3: See AI generated tits
Step 4: close Tumblr and contemplate your decisions.
The more I watch Columbo, the more I'm convinced that he's a supernatural being and that the Columbo Dimension is a fate far worse than Hell.
If Starsky and Hutch, which ran from 1975 to 1979, can have an episode dedicated to gay night clubs in California and depict them fairly accurately and have a somewhat progressive view of same sex romance for that time, then I better see something like that as I'm working my way through Columbo.
I know by the time of Murder, She Wrote there were a lot more censors around certain topics so it couldn't be approached nearly as bluntly, but that gives us all of Columbo's first run from 1971 to 1978 to do something.
Pretty please?
Bold take:
As an avid watcher of Columbo, I think if I were sucked into the show and killed someone I would get away with it.
I have the advantage on all of the other killers because I know Columbo. I know how he thinks, and I won't let him drive me crazy like he does everyone else.
Life would be so much more simple if we could all just stay home and watch Columbo.
Similarities between Columbo and Vimes:
Always finds the criminal(s)
Absolutely love and worship their wives
Cigar addicts
Always investigating/mingling with the rich, but doesn't fit in with that crowd.
Later has other, younger detectives following them around and introducing new ideas and techniques.
Short little guys.
Not to mention that Pratchett wrote something along the lines of "Being investigated by Vimes was like being nibbled to death by a duck." (I couldn't find the exact quote, but I know it exists somewhere.)
Which is a play on Peter Falk's quote about Columbo:
"Being chased by Columbo is like being nibbled to death by a duck."
This was fun. Thanks for bringing it up!
Vimes and Columbo have so much in common it's crazy. (They're both coppers and are completely devoted & worship their wives)
me when i literally did exactly that
can he sit on your dash for a minute?? he'll be very polite :]
Hey look, it's evil columbo...I mean William Afton
Anyways, I finished up that one william afton drawing I posted here, alongside a drawing of the yellow rabbit. I'm honestly pretty proud of the linework here. Admittedly the yellow rabbits head was a pain to draw, mostly cause I wanted it to reasonably look like it could fit on williams head, but I think it worked out in the end.
Hope you enjoy the drawing, feel free to leave any nice comments or critiques you have. Have a good day.
the best parts of columbo are the bits in each episode where the villains like 5 seconds from snapping at columbo, but they canât without being suspicious so they just make This Face
I love Columbo because thereâs all these rich white guys who are like âIâm better and smarter and more special than everyone, I deserve to do a free murder! And get away with it too!â So they do some murder, and then this guy shows up
And he looks like a pile of dirty laundry, and he wanders in off the street holding the saddest cup of coffee youâve ever seen and goes âHey, sorry to bother you, but I knew it was you who did the murder by shaking your hand. What a lovely home by the way, unbelievable, absolutely gorgeous. Oh and sorry, but I did also trick you into hand delivering damning evidence to me, hope you understand :/ Got a light by the way? Anyone got a light around here, a match er something?â
And then he runs off because his car is getting towed or whatever. Itâs great, I fucking love it, and Iâd happily watch 10000 episodes of this exact formula :)
inspired by @deadpanwalking from a previous columbo in space:
âBack in the day my father knew a space ship captain, real good with the ladies. He used to say, âthat Captain Kirk, he was as smooth as a Klingon forehead.â Well, I always thought that was odd, ya know?â
does anyone remember the columbo episod where he babysits his nephew and his friends
Tintin Meets The Detectives
Art by Adam Murphy
âWell Mr. Columboââ
âActually, itâs Lieutenant Columbo.â
âYouâre Starfleet?â
âStar who now?â
(thanks for the caption @brookbee!)
my friend just showed me this account through the Columbo Star Trek posts and theyâre SUPER funny and Iâm so sorry if you did this already but I noticed how Columbo sometimes likes to crack boiled eggs on cars and things at crime scenes and I was wondering if youâd be able to make one with Columbo cracking an egg on an Enterprise dashboard?
oh he would totally do that
