i love crocheting, but it messes with my wrists and makes them hurt even more, yet i refuse to give it up, because i don't want my illness taking another thing from me that i enjoy (especially since i can do it without leaving my bed)

Not much of an update. I haven't touched this project since the last one.
I've been thinking of taking off a couple of rows to make it a shorter skirt. I live in the Caribbean and this skirt is warmer than expected ๐ ๐ฅ
While I contemplate that, I'll finally be working on the waistband. I'm going to do it with double crochet and do decreases to bring it to the size of my waist.
Wish me luck, because I'm doing this with no reference whatsoever!

Update on my crochet skirt! All granny squares were completed, blocked AND sewn together! And it looks fantastic!
I bought lining fabric for the skirt, but honestly I don't think it will be needed!
What IS needed now though, is to weave in all those ends ๐ฐ I also need to make the waistband.
The skirt is the width of my hips (9 squares) so I need to gradually cinch in the waist (there's a word for it in crochet, but it's not coming to mind) I also want to crochet around the bottom edge to 'clean up' the hem.
Still a lot of work, but I can't wait to finish and wear it!

I'm not done making all the granny squares yet, but I decided to start stitching together the ones I already blocked.
It looks super cool so far! I have I think 7 and a quarter granny squares to make (I have a WIP on my hook)
I'll join them lengthways next and see how everything fits before I tie off all the ends.

I'm not done crocheting yet, but I decided to start blocking some of my squares! I dipped them in water, squeezed out the excess with a towel and pinned them to this foam board with sewing needles.

Technically this is update #2, but the first post was very bare-bones.
So, to get you up-to-date:
I decided to make a granny square maxi skirt. I started with the light blue yarn as that was what I had. I bought the multi-coloured blue yarn next and planned to make a 2 coloured skirt.
I needed to do some math to see how many squares I needed to make. Here it is:
Granny squares- 4 inches Hip measurement- 36 inches Length of skirt- 32 inches
Divide the measurements by the length of granny squares: 36 รท 4 = 9 and 32 รท 4 = 8
Multiply the results: 8 X 9 = 72
So I have 72 granny squares to crochet. To get how many I need to crochet in each colour, I divide 72 by 2 which is 36.
This changed when my sister said I should add a next colour.
I stuck with my blue theme of course. This addition meant that the math had to change. So now I divided 72 by 3 and got 24 which seems much more manageable to me even though I still have to crochet 72 granny squares.
I'm pretty close to my goal! I believe I have 15 or 16 of each at the time of writing this post.
My hands get REALLY sore after a short while crocheting, so I only crochet 3 a day. It's slow going but I'd rather practice patience than bust up my hands.
I also recently got these cute stitch markers! I'm not working on any projects that need stitch markers at the moment, but they worked really well at holding my squares together so I could see how the skirt looked so far!
Today I bring to you... this little guy!
Made him for one of my dear friends as an early birthday gift. Kinda struggled with the white parts on his face and chest as they were not included in the original crocheting scheme, so I had to improvise to get him looking like my friend's profile pic.
In the end, my friend really liked it, so it was all worth it :) Glad to make him very happy ๐ฅฐ
It's been a long time since i posted... well... anything. A lot happened since then.
I finished school, battled covid, got into uni (a vet major), made a couple of animal skeltons (will post about it soon), made a YouTube channell for a first time in years, lost a friend in a car crash and so on and so forth...
Also improved my english skills a little, which I am a little bit proud of
Anyways, here are some of my works that i did through the years
A โจ magical bull โจ my english teacher requestet for her daughter for New years (she insisted on giving me money for it although she didn't have to)
A chonky pug keychain I made for my classmate's birthday
A funky spider for my close friend's birthday
That's pretty much it (apart from a couple ones that my dumb ahh forgot to take a photo of before gifting them)
I got in a lot of fandoms during these years, the list of which you can find in the description of my tiny YouTube animation channell. If somebody suddenly (for whatever unknown for me reason) got interested in it โ you can leave a comment and I'll leave a link
Toodles ๐
(why do I even bother, no one's going to read this)
