I read the newest chapter of Cryptid Sightings, and @naffeclipse I SWEAR ON MY LIFE. The minute I read them say those lines I thought of that scene with the rake but IT FELT DIFFERENT. IT DUNKED MY BRAIN IN THE INSPIRATION POOL so I drew the thing

Here I go with my anatomy lessons again! Because @naffeclipse asked this:

The big claws on Eclipse's second set of hands are technically his pinky fingers! So they're claws, not spurs. They act and look like spurs though :p

These pinky fingers are stubby and not very flexible, but they're very strong and equipped with long and sharp claws that are used as weapons when fighting other mers and hunting large prey.

His second set of hands are overall more animal than the other set, they're not as graceful but they are way stronger. Eclipse can still use them the same way he uses his more human like hands, they're just a little bit more clumsy.

I was gonna answer Naff's question simply and without sketches attached, but one thing l led to another and now we're here X3

I bought clip studio paint on a whim while it was on sale and made a silly little cryptid sketch to try and start getting used to the program. :>

Another little anatomy lesson for ya >:3

The cryptid boys have a loooong tongue, but a large part of it is hidden away and they rarely use it's full length. It's tucked away in a cavity in their chest when they're not using it. It's most often used as a part of their threat display along with some hidden teeth that are retractable. Their tongue is also used for swallowing large heart chunks since they're not able to chew very well with their exposed knife like teeth.

Y/N did not know this. (At least in this silly little post)

One of Y/N's study sessions was cut short when they asked their demonic boys to stick out their tongue as far as it could go. They only wanted to document it's length in the ever-expanding chapter in their journal that is dedicated to their beloved boys.

They should have expected what would happened next after seeing the smirk the boys gave them before doing as they were told.

Y/N: "Why would it even need to be that long...?"

Sun/Moon: "For the spooks?"

Y/N: "....The spooks...?"

Sun/Moon: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think it's so fitting that you're (not) thinking about that kiss after seeing the tongue post X3

It's from that episode that I got the inspiration to make the 'horns and frills' design in the first place, so it's very fitting.

... just wanna add, I don't think they'd ever use their WHOLE tongue when kissing Y/N.. I think that'd be enough to kill a person cjxjhdjdjf

They're gentle, remember!? They're very gentle!! XD

Jokes aside, I'm so happy you enjoy my weird art and design for the boys. I don't know how long they'll stick around after my CS craze fades (if it ever will). They've turned into a character I'd really like to keep for a long time if I can. But I will ALWAYS credit you as the sole reason why they even exist in the first place♥️

I see the boys' tongue as one of their creepy factors! It's intimidating and a little gross (if you're on the wrong end of their attention) but if you're a sweet human who happens to have captured their heart (or lack thereof), then it's just another tongue, if not a bit more interesting ajsdlfjdas

They are oh so gentle, and maybe a little cheeky with that tongue hehe. In all seriousness, they are mindful and careful, as they are with all of their other aspects when up close and personal with their little hunter! ♥

It's so easy to love when you create so many beautiful things! I also love your thoughts and ideas behind your cryptid designs, it's very inspiring! Keep them for as long as you'd like! They're yours entirely!

I give some thoughts about heart-eating and some of the boys' senses below, which involves blood, hearts, heavy kissing, and spoilers for Cryptid Sightings.

So, I've kept thinking about it ever since your art of the tongue anatomy and figured this would be a good time to share: The boys have very strong tastebuds; a crazy powerful taste. (All demonic cryptids share this trait.) When they taste blood and meat, it is sweet and savory and they can derive information from that taste (like when they sampled Y/N's blood left behind in the trailer after the rake attack and could deduce that their heart was still beating when this smear of blood was spilled). That carries over whenever they kiss Y/N, which is a very sensory experience for them. Even though they lack lips and often kisses are given via nuzzles or Y/N kissing them on their teeth, they make up for it with their tongue—not to say that they're invading Y/N's mouth every time. Just that they will occasionally give little flicks of the tip of their tongue to Y/N's lips or along their cheek to taste their essence (and if the moment's right, more with a deeper kiss).

@naffeclipse, Cryptid sightings is freakin great man. Had to draw this immediately after reading the latest chapter. Flipping quaking my dude. I flippin love cryptids. I love the story. I am just so... aaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAA. Anyways take this while I go disappear into the woods for a bit.

I love figuring out how fantasy anatomy works, so it was only a matter of time before I started giving this treatment to my cryptids. They probably don’t even have bones or muscles, they’re a demon that can shapeshift or turn into goop or whatever to possess tiny objects. @naffeclipse do they have bones and muscles? (you don’t have to asnwer :p)

I’ve been having trouble drawing their mouth open so I came up with some weird anatomy that makes it easier for my little brain to understand it djfksagljfk

I added a bone in the jaws to make them able to “dislocate” their lower jaw to open it wider. And I added a little bone that’s attached to the front of their throat to be a place for muscle attachments cause I found nowhere else to put the muscles that lets them open their mouth.

Idk if all of this really would work in real life, but my brain gets it and that’s all that matters :p

Turns out that previous animation was just a wip! I felt today that I wanted to work a little more on this to make it feel more finished. So now it’s an emotional head turn! I’m so happy with this messy thing, omg,, :’3

I still don’t really know what they’re reacting to, but some ideas I have is that they’re having a tough conversation with Y/N, or overheard something said by Y/N that they maybe shouldn’t have. Angsty stuff my beloved.

I’ve wanted to make another MH World style icon ever since I made my first one (the one that’s currently my profile picture) but I didn’t know what I wanted to turn into an icon,, until now!! Making this was so much fun!!!

We’ve been doing speed challenges in school this week, one project for each day. Today I wanted to make a simple low poly 3D model with hand drawn textures. I decided to make it extra fun for myself by making some Cryptid Sightings fanart djfgdfgkdfh Yes this is schoolwork that is also fanart, and my teacher will never know XD

The model was made in Maya and the textures were made in Photoshop.

Ooo I got a question, have/would cryptid sun/moon ever possess(ed) a living host? Would there ever be a reason for them to? Would they ever consider doing it to the hunter? Even if it was to save their life? :3c

Yes, they have possessed a living host before, but that is rare and far between instances. Sun/Moon find it distasteful. It's a very harsh process for the person and they prefer vessels that won't scream and try to run away every time they emerge to eat. The only reasons they've had to in the past were because they needed to conceal themselves and were in desperate need of a vessel, so they took a human as a little ferry toward a more suitable, inorganic host.

As for considering possession of Y/N: absolutely not. That is the last thing Sun/Moon would ever want to do even in the direst of circumstances, except—and only for this—if it meant the difference between life and death for their little hunter. They would only then, but it would not be Fun™.

Whoop whoop I finished it! It’s a little rough around the edges and not at all perfect but it’s still better than I thought it would turn out.

They are keeping a lookout for scary monsters that lurk in the night, taking every tiny creak and squeak that makes its way into the room as a potential threat. Their little hunter is sleeping peacefully and safely, no night terrors in sight. Everything is good.
