Hot take: The pre-game selves of the Danganronpa V3 characters act exactly the same as the do in the game. It was their memories that changed not their personalities. Shuichi and Kaede act the exact same during the prologue before and after their memories were altered.
I have an idea for story writers and Danganronpa fans. What if...a new story in the perspective of the world outside of Danganronpa. This would take place after Danganronpa V3. It would be through the eyes of an activist against the killing game. They would protest the killing game being broadcasted and children being sent in to be slaughtered for everyone's enjoyment. The activist would not be a teenager but instead someone who had to witness the horrors close hand, maybe worked behind the scenes. (I will make another post about V3 explaining what I think is going on behind the scenes.) There would be murder mysteries, plots against the government, lawyer cases, and all the drama and angst you could want. Plus it would be a great way to build on the parallel world that V3 created.
I know Danganronpa isn't popular anymore. But an idea to those who want to try.
