Death Note AU where Sidoh gets a clue earlier and starts looking for his stolen notebook around the time Light and L have their virtual dick-measuring contest. He flaps down to confront Ryuk and Light, who just laugh him out of his house since Sidoh is as scary as a weird kitten. He manages to beg off a single page so he won’t die, and watches Light sneakily. He figures out who L is and goes to watch that human instead, thinking maybe he can get back at those two for laughing at him. So when L finally puts together the clues, ‘L did you know shinigami love apples?,’ Sidoh touches L with his single sad page of Death Note and says, “They don’t all love apples but that Ryuk sure does.” After L picks himself up off the floor and changes his pants, he has some questions.
Mello’s character intrigues me a lot, and so does his motivation, his strengths and weaknesses. I believe his personality to be affected by his mental illness, which I personally see being Narcissitic Personality Disorder. In this post I’d like to go over the latest revision of DSM-5 for the section for NPD to see how many of the official diagnostic criteria apply to Mello’s actions in the manga.
I myself have NPD, so I naturally recognize a lot of patterns within his behaviors and behind his motivation. However, I have to make this disclaimer: This is about a fictional character’s motivations. Do not actually use lists you find online, no matter how official, for diagnosing. Only longterm evaluation of patterns in one’s behavior done by a medical professional can serve as a basis for diagnosing someone with NPD. It’s a serious disorder that heavily affects our life and relationships, don’t treat it easily.

FACTS
Sidoh, a shinigami, comes to the human realm to get his notebook back
The notebook is in the hands of the mafia, led by Mello, so Sidoh establishes contact with them
After an undetermined amount of time (but that couldn't be longer than some minutes) Sidoh is shown eating chocolate
PREMISE
Mello would not have given Sidoh the chocolate he was eating, seeing as if anyone touched it Mello would probably kill them in an unhinged laughing rampage of violence
We also know he didn't do that because Mello is still showing the same bar of chocolate as before
The rest of the mafia wouldn't be insane enough to give one of Mello's chocolate bars to a shinigami without consent, and they have no reason to have any chocolate bars themselves
CONCLUSION
Mello himself took the time to open his Chocolate Vault™ and get one of his spare bars to give to Sidoh
He just needed him to know what chocolate tasted like ASAP i guess

Death Noters remember that Near is capable of aging and is currently 27 in canon. He was 12 when first introduced, 17 when he started and 18 by the time the case ended. He was 21 in the C-Kira Story and 27 in A-Kira.
Stop treating him like he's oblivious to sex as well, it's likely they learned about it at some point. Wammy's wasn't a fucking kindergarten where all they did was macaroni art and draw houses.

I like to think that Linda was super mad at Near and Mello and thats why when she was asked she was like “yes here is a drawing of their faces!” to get back at them, but she didn’t really want them to die so she drew the much younger versions of them than she actually remembers

can you imagine how funny it would be if beyond birthday lived like. light finally successfully kills L and then seemingly comes back to the task force the next day just like 12% weirder. He’s like oh yeah I faked it dw it was for the case and everyone else is like ah yes, classic L. And light is just having an aneurysm trying to figure out what the fuck is happening and to convince everyone he’s not L. “Oh but he’s crawling around on all fours that’s L behavior” “no, if you paid attention you’d notice that all the weird stuff L did was to touch things as little as possible.” “I know his fake death might have upset you I understand, but I’m worried about you” “IT ISNT BEING MAD AT HIM OR GREIVING HIM THATS A FULLY DIFFERENT PERSON”
