Sometimes I remember that pretty much the entirety of Gaster’s lore and personality was invented by the fandom based on very minuscule stuff in undertale, and I can’t help but wonder how much of that fanon influenced Toby whilst making deltarune

I like to think that Spamton could’ve met Jevil Before he met Mike

And due to Jevil’s position as the court jester, with presumably Seam being his only friend, it’s very possible that he saw himself in Spamton, an unsuccessful joke of a salesman, allowing the two to become friends (in a sort of “only-I-get-to-pick-on-you” kind of way)

But then Jevil gets corrupted and goes insane and maybe Spamton hears him ramble about freedom and he tries to dismiss it, but. It Sticks With Him

And once he meets Mike and makes it big, maybe he starts convincing himself that Jevil was just making fun of him and trying to steer him into the “wrong” type of freedom and that capitalism is the only way to escape depravity — which causes his fears to turn into resentment (thus, “I’ll surpass that clown around town”)

I imagine that when they reunite in Kris’ pocket it plays out kind of like scenario 3 in the sense that Spamton has all this Built Up Hatred and blows up at Jevil from the Slightest Things, except Jevil’s kind of inwardly like “???? What happened to you” but doesn’t know how to approach the subject because Spamton’s just So Angry all the time so instead he plays off his concern as teasing

Like “lololol imagine being abandoned by all your friends like how tf does that happen” but he’s trying to goad Spamton into Venting so he can piece together what the Hell happened during the century he spent in prison (and maybe comfort the poor guy but that can come later)

need 2 get words out of my head or my head will explode like a confetti party popper. thinking about potential jevil / spamton meetings based on the scraps we know in canon

I am trying to piece together a dark world timeline (pre-chapter 1) for a fic I’m writing, based mostly on which darkners from chapters 1 & 2 know each other, and my brain is Starting To Hurt

So far I have:

- King and Queen lived together (potentially ex-partners?) in the card castle sometime before Lancer came into existence (hence why Lancer doesn’t seem to recognise Queen)

- King had Jevil as his court jester and Seam as his court magician

- The cyber world already existed before Queen began ruling there, hence Addisons and the like

- Queen met Tasque Manager in the cyber world, took her back to the card castle (hence how Tasque Manager met Jevil)

- The Addisons, upon learning of card castle, started periodically visiting that world, peddling their shit there since the darkners in that world would be less familiar with their intentions

- Through this, Spamton met Jevil (cut some stuff about their relationship because it’s not relevant to this post)

- Jevil comes in contact with Gaster; this is around the time King and Queen’s relationship deteriorates

- Queen leaves card castle, taking Tasque Manager and every other cyber world inhabitant with her

- Jevil is locked up

- Insert Lancer here????

don’t ask why the turning to stone thing isn’t mentioned because I genuinely Do Not Know how these characters would’ve interacted Otherwise

Yeah, there’s a real chance Dess changed her name from “December”.

From the Ice-E “sighting” page, we can see that even a very young Noelle calls her “Dess”.

But the “news” reporter will still link to https://deltarune.com/december/ to recommend Dess’s sightings, which is now a 404 page:

…while, on the other hand, like you said, the “Dess” page does work.

Noelle and Rudy will unfailingly call Dess “Dess”. They never actually call her “December”.

Even the game itself never actually calls Dess “December” - the word itself is never said aloud, and almost treated like taboo.

Noelle responded to spam emails for “friend finders” to search for “Dess”.

This puzzle will slowly spell out December, but Noelle doesn’t appear to notice.

She’s not looking at the letters; she’s looking at Kris (almost as if for comfort).

Since Noelle called her Dess even at such a young age, when the town news reporter still linked to a page calling her “December” (indicating she was, at some point, generally called that)…

…maybe she wanted to be called “Dess” since she was little, before actually changing it.

I know we always use this scene to say Dess must have disappeared before the Spelling Bee, when Noelle was very young…

…but what if Noelle just didn’t even want to spell the wrong name for her sister?

Noelle never has any trouble saying “Dess”, even for lighthearted moments…

…but she’ll never say the word “December”.
