just a special little reminder that piracy is 100% a valid option if a company does shitty stuff, like I pirated all of my sims 4 expansions cuz EA is a shitty money hungry company that made way to many expansion packs that should've been basegame. if you don't suport something a company does pirate it
EA Don't Care EA Don't Give a Shit it just takes what it wants. They have no regard for any other animal whatsoever.
It's a story as old as time. Here, enjoy.
I'm avoiding re-installing this shit again, so in the meantime I'm sorting some stuff into lists. For Linux research purposes.
Edit: Standby Memory Allocation on Windows 10: New info coming in: That's not the issue. However, what i wrote below about TM is my own experience and has worked for me (without doing what Jessa was saying in the SB memory part, I remembered, hope I didn't waste anybody's time). Does it make sense? idk, but it's harmless, and if it's actually a thing and not just a freak coincidence, and can help anybody else then why not. I do remember trying it with and without cleaning cache :/ [for fuck sake the nerve on EA to put out for sale a new edition without improving it to 64bit]. As discussed by Jessa below, it's an OS problem. What worked for me, for some bizarre reason was to keep Task Manager on before and while playing the game. without it my game was crashing often, on my main non gaming computer. What solved it was fixing windows... for anyone's interested, the gory details are at the bottom of the post under the cut.
+ That combined with clearing cache often.
Jessa's video (Memory Allocation and 4GB Patch Repair). Edit: Turns out this video was pulled back, so basically just make sure the patch is applied?

Task Manager thing briefly, for the curious (as if it interests anyone else but me, but in the interest of keeping track).
So the game was crashing often. That thing was easy to spot because the laptop would make loud airplane noises when I'd load the game. It got stuck or something, so I went to end it by force with task manager and noticed that all the resources where used to the max - right up until I'd open TM, and then everything would cool down. Like it was playing hide and seek with me. So I figured I'd get smart with it right back, and just leave TM open the whole time. Low and behold, the game stopped crashing. That combined with clearing cache often. Does it make sense? idk, but the computer works in mysterious ways.
No Homecrafter either, save your money people. This is not an acceptable quality release.
Quick post while I can; full video coming tonight!
Sims 2 Legacy Edition:
1. NO Bodyshop, tried to run the UC version but it crashed | EDIT: some users have reported being able to copy over bodyshop and run it, but the folder paths are not configured correctly.
2. NO IKEA stuff pack, can be downloaded
3. RPC & associated mods NOT currently working | UPDATE: LD has said on X that he would like to eventually make his mods compatible with this version of the game, so hopefully in the future we will see an RPC for Legacy
4. Scriptorium broken / causes game to crash on load | EDIT: Can be installed manually
5. Pink flashing not solved
6. Object Limit still there (lol)
7. Custom Skins buttons in CAS broken
8. Users are reporting a TONNE of new gameplay bugs - broken pets, broken cutscenes, disappearing Sims, BV community lots not working - it's wild. Check out the EA help forums or this thread on MTS for more: https://modthesims.info/showpost.php?p=5987455&postcount=1
Stick with Starter Pack friends!
they claimed to have fix the pink soup…
I usually do not post on this account unless I am posting a larger post, but I am hyperfixating on a game called DiRT 3.
DiRT 3 was made in 2011 for the Xbox 360, Ps3 and PC by codemasters and it was removed off of steam in 2017 presumably to expired car licenses. And codemasters was acquired by none other than EA in 2021.
I got reminded that i had the game by a song that sounded similar to the DiRT 3 OST and so I listened to the DiRT 3 OST on spotify and I just fucking had to play it again, that was yesterday, or technically two days ago, it is fucking midnight but I must rave on about this fucking game, and today or technically yesterday I got the steam key as I wanted to play it with Jolly and Beeeq.
a game that has been out for over a decade, removed off steam, has players in 2023. I mean people talk about how DiRT 2 was great and how DiRT 4 and DiRT 5 suck ass which to my knowledge do. but holy shit. And this shit does not look like a fucking Ps3 game I mean it's litearly fucking better than the sequels? it's 6GB and the complete edition was like 2,50€ something on G2A I saw in Google you can get it for free but my fucking download paranoia says eat pant and so getting the steam key was the best option.
rant over~
