Autism-related Submas headcanons!

Heyo! I have compiled quite a few headcanons after overanalyzing these two and ideating (both the subject of Submas *and* autism), so here goes nothing. Thought rainbows at 5 in the morning, on zero sleep.

◇ This may go without saying, but Emmet is low empathy, and Ingo is high empathy.

Emmet will attempt to express empathy but will end up giving you "the facts" instead of typical sympathy. Ingo will console you and encourage you through your struggle, despite any slipups he may make.

◇ Emmet has a higher tolerance to sound and a lower tolerance to physical sensations. Ingo has a higher tolerance to physical sensations and a lower tolerance to sound (despite being loud himself).

◇ Ingo adores physical contact and will accept it without question, but Emmet may hesitate to engage in this. He needs to really trust you first and give you details on what he likes and dislikes.

◇ Emmet is very intelligent just like Ingo, but he has frequent nonverbal moments, which unfortunately leads to others believing there is a "smarter twin". Ingo is the one to speak first, and Emmet may or may not add onto it, depending on whether he can physically speak at the moment or not.

This can cause problems as well, such as during interviews or appointments where he needs to give vital information -- he finds himself being too vague after the fact. (This one is totally not self projection!)

He is aware of his choppy speech pattern as well, but it is difficult to stop.

◇ Unlike Ingo, Emmet has ADHD paired with his autism, which gives him conflicting symptoms. He may switch around his eating habits quicker, or he may erratically change something in his routine and quickly regret it afterwards.

◇ Ingo can hold eye contact for a *much* longer duration of time than Emmet. Emmet, on the other hand, seems to avoid it almost completely, unless it is with Ingo, Elesa, or another verrrry trusted person. (Even here, it is still uncomfortable if done too long.)

◇ Ingo stims like Emmet does, but not in public! He takes masking more seriously, but at home he finds himself rocking, talking to himself, making vocalizations with Emmet and fidgeting in place.

◇ Ingo likes wearing socks indoors, and Emmet prefers to go barefoot.

Now, my brain is fried, so I will leave it here... for now.....

Submas are Gamers and you can tear that from my cold dead hands Emmet likes fast-paced reaction style games; typically Rhythm games (OSU, Taiko, Particularly fond of Miku Games), or FPS (But only the funny ones like Fortnite and Overwatch, Man hates COD and Battlefield with a passion) Ingo likes the slow strategy games and LOVES a good story - His favourite game was Fire Emblem 3 houses and he has over 1000 hours on Animal crossing (He plays it during his breaks) - Also very much in love with Beatsaber. Emmet hates it and feels motion sick when playing VR. BOTH have countless hours wracked up on Train Sim games, They share an account because they each like different bits of the game and they cover each others weaknesses like IRL. Both are also super into Racing games- they like the speed and the excitement of it. They can thrash ANYONE at Mario Kart, because they co-ordinate their attacks to knock everyone else out and then duke it out between each other for first. Among Us is a trainwreck because the boys take it too seriously and they have definitely cried and argued for real over it before. Emmet more so than Ingo, but Ingo can get petty very easily. Minecraft. They're autistic what more do I have to say about Minecraft?? jk but Ingo spends HOURS making underground rain systems in the mining tunnels Emmet builds. They're mostly always underground- their world looks so untouched from the top but they've had the same world for 10 years its all underground. Emmet likes to keep pet creepers to leave in his brothers way every so often. Ingo retaliates by building a waterstream to filter Zombies from a spawner on top of Emmet. Emmet tries streaming on his own, hates it. Ingo then tries, hates it. Try streaming together on a whim and its now their side hustle. When Ingo comes back from Hisui with Sneasler they set up a dedicated Sneasler cam in the corner to catch her napping.

I love aimless cuddling but had a thought about submas in undertale?? Like what would they look like, what their attacks may be?

They're still somewhat humanoid bcs they're still fundamentally Human in pokemon so I wanted to keep that BUT BUT BUT I couldn't bear completely divorcing them from their pokemon so they get attributes from their pokemon SO THAT MEANS...

ELEMENTALS! *dodges a shoe for drawing yet another fire elemental* shh shh shh i still wanted to keep them being similar to each other so elementals were obvious choice

as for their attacks, Ingo would have stuff more coming from the bottom, and a meandering sort of fire. And Emmet would have attacks coming from the top and waves of electricity. When together, Ingo's attacks could also turn orange and Emmet's blue!

I'd like to think they're running a battle club or something so they're very experienced about this (hi i think abt battles being a way for monsters to communicate Often), but despite being asked to join the guard several times they just Don't Want To. similar to how they're not in the league in pokemon but still very much high-level trainers. This also comes to - they'd be willing to fight you in pacifist routes as some sort of an optional boss, together, of course. They make it clear it's a sparring match For Fun from the beginning and would always stop before knocking your HP to zero (my Papyrus bias isn't showing). They'd also lay down their own conditions for sparing bare. SAFETY CHECK!

SPARING conditions would either knocking them both down enough (they'd each tell you when to stop, respectively), or outlasting a certain number of turns (that'd be the yellow credits sparing condition, as their attacks would ramp up with difficulty each turn).

If you dust either the second one becomes VERY distraught and attacks would become much more erratic and hard to dodge, and also lose their color element. not sparable at that point. like. congratz you killed one of the twins.

Also they're still running a train (magic, of course) through the CORE, hotlands and New Home, because they still do need to be silly train men.
