Tonight, I attended 'Arcadia', the opening of Paul Winstanley's latest exhibition at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, Dublin 2. His paintings, oil on linen or oil on panel were the right sizes for their subject matter. The larger artworks like 'Landscape With Clouds II' (2024) looked majestic but were too dark and brown for my liking. ⛰ Paul's smaller paintings from his body of work, 'The Falls' featuring waterfalls had more movement and colour in them. 💧 My favourite painting was 'Veil 30' (2024) which comprised a closed net curtain with a landscape beyond it. Paul's exhibition will run until 18th Jan 2025. 📰 It was well worth going.

Tonight, I attended the opening of Guggi's exhibition 'Them' at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, South Anne's Street, Dublin D02 A028. The venue was packed full of interesting people. I loved the subtle colours in Guggi's paintings and enjoyed looking at his bowl shapes that he includes in many of his artworks. Guggi's opening went very well. His exhibition will continue until 24th February 2024.
Classy.
Last Thursday, I attended the opening of Double Shuffle at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin D02 A028. Double Shuufle is an exhibition of work by Victoria Morton and Merlin James. The opening started at 5:00 so it took a while for the venue to fill up with people. The artwork on view consisted of paintings and wall-mounted sculptures in various media. I enjoyed viewing the large painting by Victoria Morten called 'About Listening'. It was full of color and life. Merlin's artwork was more understated. I liked his paintings titled 'Pier' and 'Sky'. Double Shuffle will run until 8th July 2023.
