Rody couldn’t sit still. He was pacing back and forth in the dorm living room. His mind was racing like crazy.

As soon as Rody had seen the news, he first thought that it was some misunderstanding, just like before, but as soon as actual footage was shown, Rody felt his heart drop. Is this why Izuku hadn’t been in contact with him recently? Japan was on lockdown, so no flights were going in or out.

So he flew there himself instead.

He packed for the trip as quickly as he could and dropped his siblings off with a neighbor he trusted. And now, he was here. Waiting to see Deku.

Damn it.

He had so many questions  So many worries. And Pino was showing all of them. Pino was doing her own worrisome pacing by flying all around the place.

Rody was so deep in his own thoughts, he almost didn’t hear all the students come in. By the time he finally made his way out into the opening, the group had scattered and he noticed a door shutting.

Did they manage to get him back?

Izuku was tired. Exhausted, honestly. Physically, emotionally, and any other type of exhausted that existed. After Uraraka managed to convince the civilians to let him rest at U.A., the last of his adrenaline drained from him. He could barely stand, so it was no surprise when his male classmates lifted him into the air and carried him off to the bath. 

Though, as he was being carted off, he managed to glance around at the familiar surroundings of the common area. Though he’d been away for nearly two months, it felt more like an entire year instead. 

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted an oddly familiar pink bird flying across the living room. There was no way, right…? 

There was no way he was here…! 

He was just hallucinating from exhaustion. That had to be it! Still, Izuku could feel his heart ache as he was pulled into the bathroom.

Meeting with Deku’s friends again was... interesting. Todoroki he could speak to just fine. Bakugou on the other hand... He wondered if the blonde would ever warm up to him. Oh well.

He thought Deku’s idea of the mall was perfect. Rody would be able to see multiple stores all in one place. Although he had put on some nicer pants and a relatively “new” hoodie, that he might have sewn some plaid onto for more style, he was still wearing his same old shoes. Rody really wanted to save money where he could.

“Woah... We definitely won’t get to all of them.” He started, turning towards Deku. “I’m open to any store recommendations you got though. Or we can explore the new ones right away.” Even with his focus on the hero, Pino was standing up right on Rody’s head and looking around with a lot of interest. Rody had been to a mall before, but nowhere near as nice as this one.

It took everything in Izuku not to start bouncing up and down where he was standing. He was waiting outside of Gate 15 for an incoming flight from Otheon. Finally, after seven long months of waiting, today was the day! 

Rody was visiting him in Japan!

They had been planning this for months. Instead of spending his extra money on All Might merchandise, he focused all of it towards Rody’s travel expenses and anything they’d end up doing while together for the week. They had practically talked every other day ever since Rody had saved up money to buy a cell phone. They had learned a lot about each other in that time, and despite the long distance between them, Izuku still felt as if they were becoming closer than ever.

So, really... it wasn’t much of a surprise that this was the most excited he’d felt in a very long time. 

As soon as he spotted Rody’s face, his eyes lit up as bright as the sun. He couldn’t help but rush forward and pull the other young man into a fierce hug. He could feel himself tearing up, but he managed to keep the tears at bay. He couldn’t keep the grin off of his face even if he tried to. 

“I can’t believe you’re actually here right now!” he exclaimed with a cheerful laugh. “It’s so great to see you again, Rody!”

“I would not have allowed you to help me more than you already have for this ticket. First class would have been too much. Flying here was the important part. Not the food.” It was the truth. It was just flying from point A to point B. The comfort or the food could be looked over.

Rody was taking in his surroundings at any chance he got. He was always looking around, observing, but whenever Deku spoke, he always snapped his attention back to him. Rody looked over to where he pointed, taking note of what a nice looking car it was as they went to approach it.

“Oh, a classic around here. Hm...” Pino suddenly chirped in, literally. Looks like Rody already made up his mind. 

“Yeah! That sounds good.”

Rody nodded in agreement. A whole new burst of happiness and excitement exuded from him all because he got to talk about his siblings. It was true! Life was really turning around for the better. He could thank Deku for that. For inspiring him.

"Hm?" He looked over with a curious smile, laughing as he was nudged. He was honestly flattered by the words. "Ha! You give me way too much credit. It's been a lot of hard work but it's definitely worth it." Rody took notice of the flush on Izuku's cheeks again. So this is what he was like when they weren't on the run and on the verge of death. He could get used to this.

Rody was glad they didn't have any trouble at customs. It was nerve-wrecking coming to another country, even if he was only here for visit. He was also thankful to have Deku beside him to help with the language barrier.

"Well..."

"Since it was a long flight, they did pass out meals. But, ya know, it was airplane food. I wouldn't mind an actual meal."

There was a happy chirp from her, nodding as she flew up and settled back in his hair. Pino was happy to have such a nice resting place.

Rody followed Deku, walking beside him. He couldn’t help but look around at all the other gates and shops they passed by. Even just the airports in Japan were interesting. He was letting his mind wander before Deku spoke up again.

“Oh!” He turned to Deku with a big grin. Was it obvious that he loved his little brother and sister? “They’re doing great! Roro is doing amazing in school, as predicted, and Lala makes friends really easily! It makes me so happy to see them be actual kids. They have so much more light in their eyes now.”

Rody couldn’t help but smile at Deku’s gentleness with Pino. The red on his face slowly faded away as he watched the two interact. This was nice.

“Oh, right.” Rody turned towards his luggage, grabbing hold of it again. Guess he couldn’t stand here and stare at Deku and Pino all day. “This is all I have, so that’s one less stop for us.” He gestured forward with his hand, smiling back at him. “Lead the way, Deku!”

Even if Deku was embarrassed, and Rody was a bit flustered, the warmth of the conversation and laughter was really pleasant. Rody hadn’t felt this kind of pure joy in a while. He was grateful to have a friend like Deku.

Rody got red in the face when Izuku asked such a thing. Wasn’t it obvious?

“Ah- She-” He was cut off by Pino chirping as she hopped onto Deku’s hand. She was flapping her wings rapidly and being louder than Rody expected. Pino was definitely beyond happy to see him, and Rody only got redder at the sight of her display.

“Well, there’s your answer.”

Izuku had surprisingly noticed Rody’s blush. Maybe it was because it was getting so dark on his face? It was enough to ease some of Izuku’s own flustered state. 

He brought Pino down to eye level and used the index finger on his other hand to softly pet the small bird on the head. “Well, I missed you too, Pino!” he replied with a giggle. 

He then took notice of Rody’s carry-on bags. Maybe they should at least deal with customs before doing anything else? 

“Do you have other luggage to pick up from baggage claims?” he asked as he returned his focus to his friend. “We should probably at least start walking towards customs,” he added with a sheepish smile.

Hearing Deku compliment his hard work took him aback. Deku was always one to raise others up like that... It really did help one feel good about themselves.

“Ah geez...” Rody brought a hand up to rub the back of his neck, giving a cunning smile. Meanwhile on his shoulder, Pino looked shy as she fidgeted with her wings. “I guess I have been working pretty hard, huh? But still, your help made all the difference.”

Rody watched with admiration as Izuku smiled and talked. It was so nice to see him again. To talk in person. Sure, it had been a good while since he last saw Deku, but did the hero always get this red so easily? The hero’s voice getting louder, and saying such embarrassing words towards Rody, really threw him for a loop. After a pause, he couldn’t help but laugh. 

“Aw man, Deku, you’re too much!” With such a red face and shouting something like that in a public space, how could Rody not think he was cute? He internally thanked his own quirk for not being able to say thoughts out loud, although Pino did fly over and settle on Deku’s green hair.

“Of course it’s fine! We got along so fast and went through so much in such a short time.. I didn’t want you to leave in the first place so.. Yeah, I missed you too.”

After such a long flight, it felt nice to stretch and get the legs moving again. Pino obviously felt the same as she flew around him, stretching out those wings and happily tweeting.

A luggage was being pulled behind him in one hand, a cell phone in the other. He had it on hand just in case he couldn't find Deku. The very thought of being in Japan and seeing Deku again kept him up for the past few nights. Don't worry, he still got sleep, but it was hard with all the excitement and nerves.

The alert from Pino caused Rody to snap out of his thoughts and look up.

That green mess of hair could stand out anywhere.

Rody's pace quickened, basically running to the hero. "Deku!" He let go of his luggage and happily welcomed the hug, immediately hugging him back. It was a tight hug, one full of longing and warmth, and Rody couldn't help but lift the shorter friend off the ground in excitement.

He pulled out of the hug, keeping one hand on Izuku's shoulder. He managed to keep his composure as well, but Pino gave away how happy he really was with the tears in her eyes.

"Aha! I know!" Rody matched the hero's grin, giving his shoulder a nudge with the hand that was resting on it. "It's all thanks to you honestly. Ha, you must have really missed me if you helped fly me out here, eh, Deku?"
