Izuku was positively beaming. "Well, I'd be disappointed if I wasn't!" he said with a faint giggle. "We're dating, right? I should know the most about you!"

"I at least wanted to get a few more correct... But I shouldn't leave it up to a quiz to show how much I actually know about you."

Izuku smiled at Rody. "It's okay! I believe you, Rody!" He chuckled a little. "I still think a six out of ten is really good even if Kacchan says otherwise."

"Can't say I'm very surprised. Good job on being number one thus far, Izuku!"

“Kacchan doesn’t need a bigger ego!” Izuku argued. “Also, I’ll always root for you, Rody!” he added with a faint blush.  

“Hell yeah, he doesn’t!” Okay, now he really couldn’t let Bakugou win. His ego would just grow. 

“And thanks, Izuku.” Rody rubbed at his neck. “I appreciate it.”

He gently took the notebook from his boyfriend's scarred hands, looking over the page that it was currently on. Deku was right about him not understanding most of the writing, though it was sweet to have all of this stuff hand written about him.

All... of... this... He flipped through the additional pages that had to do with him and Pino. Said pink companion was happily viewing the pages from his shoulder as well. Rody was surprised to have even one page about him but- there was more? It was touching, and he found himself smiling at the drawings integrated into the notes. How cute.

"Hm?" Rody looked down at his boyfriend as he currently rested against his chest. Which was the worst place for him to be as his heart skipped at the sweet and genuine words. Rody knew he helped save the world, but part of him continued to deny the 'hero' label for some reason.

His face was heating up and Rody playfully shoved the notebook into the hero's face so he wouldn't see. Though that didn't stop Pino's soft chirping. "Yeah yeah, but we all know it wouldn't have been possible without you."

“Huh…?” Izuku blinked out of his thoughts when he heard Rody’s voice. He felt his boyfriend’s weight shift behind him and flushed for the briefest moment at the close proximity. He blinked and flashed a sheepish smile once he processed the question. “Oh…! Sorry…” 

He held up the notebook for Rody to see. “You can look at it if you want…” he added as the flush only grew worse. “Though, I’m not sure how much you’d get out of it since it’s mostly in Japanese…” There were at least five full pages dedicated to Rody and Pino in the notebook. There were a few sketches of both of them along with detailed descriptions of Rody’s abilities and his Quirk.

He leaned back against Rody and a warm smile crossed his face. “You’re in here because you’re one of my heroes…” he murmured. “If it weren’t for you and Pino, we wouldn’t be able to have this kind of moment together…” His smile widened. “You both helped us save the world.”

Izuku was currently engaging with one of his many hobbies; furiously scribbling in one of his Hero Analysis notebooks while muttering the words out loud. Though, what was notable were the words he spoke. "Rody....mostly....taught....himself....how to....parkour..." He only began to do this after asking his boyfriend about how he obtained such amazing parkour skills.

The brunette laughed from the hero's bed.

"You're mumbling again." Not that he ever minded it, he actually quite adored it- but wait- he was mumbling about him. Rody shot up from the bed, quickly appearing beside Deku as he peered over his shoulder.

"Isn't this your hero notebook...? Why are you writing about me in here?"

“Why not? If she were to dress up as any hero, it might as well be the best one around, don’t you agree?” Izuku could argue back and say that the best was All Might, and Rody would disagree, and they would go on with their conversation like so.

But Deku just had to be so aware of Pino.

“Hm?” He tried to act innocent, as if he didn’t know the exact reason. “She must be bundling up in my hair for warmth. Sometimes those little feathers of hers aren’t enough.”

“Why isn’t there a Deku one?”

The brunette took in his own deep breath, trying to recompose himself as Deku pulled back. The hand that was occupied in the green nest of hair came down to rest on Izuku’s cheek. He returned the smile the best that he could. Of course Rody was beyond happy to see Izuku again, but the circumstances that brought him here weren’t... the best.

He nodded slowly, allowing the other to lead the way. He spared a quick glance to the hero’s classmates as they headed off. Rody stayed close to Izuku, just as he was staying close to him. There wasn’t much to say on the way there. It wasn’t an uncomfortable silence, though. There was understanding and patience behind it. And concern.

Whatever he had expected from Deku’s room, it was nothing compared to what it actually was. After taking in the décor of the room for a good few seconds, Rody was very obviously fighting back a smile. “You’re making this impossibly hard for me, Izuku.” He finally had the opportunity to see Deku’s room and he wasn’t even allowed to laugh. Well, he could, but Rody didn’t want to tease him too hard considering the events that had just happened. They were here to cuddle! But-

“Man... You really are an adorable nerd.” It was said with softness and adoration. With a ruffle of said nerd’s hair, Rody walked into the room, getting a better look at the place. Don’t tease. Don’t tease. Don’t tease.

Izuku was tired. Exhausted, honestly. Physically, emotionally, and any other type of exhausted that existed. After Uraraka managed to convince the civilians to let him rest at U.A., the last of his adrenaline drained from him. He could barely stand, so it was no surprise when his male classmates lifted him into the air and carried him off to the bath. 

Though, as he was being carted off, he managed to glance around at the familiar surroundings of the common area. Though he’d been away for nearly two months, it felt more like an entire year instead. 

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted an oddly familiar pink bird flying across the living room. There was no way, right...? 

There was no way he was here...! 

He was just hallucinating from exhaustion. That had to be it! Still, Izuku could feel his heart ache as he was pulled into the bathroom.

In the envelope was a heart-shaped letter that was folded up to be able to fit inside. The thing was cheesily decorated with valentine’s stickers and drawings. Looks like Roro and Lala had a hand in helping their big brother. Even the inside was decorated- maybe they went a little overboard.

Among the lovely decorations was a simple question in Rody’s handwriting: Will you be my valentine, Izuku?

“I hope you know the correct answer, hero.”

@rody-soul​ said: “Deku!” He called out as Pino flew ahead of him with a small envelope in her beak, almost crashing into the green-haired hero. “You’re surprisingly a tough guy to find.” He came to a stop a few feet from Izuku. Rody had a red metal tin in his hands, as well as an All Might themed box of chocolates. Floating alongside him was a red heart-shaped balloon. Was the balloon too much? It was, wasn’t it? “Um... I never really... Got to celebrate this sort of occasion, so I hope what I have is alright.”

Izuku was on his way to the dorms when Pino practically flew straight at him! He gasped from surprise. “P-Pino!” 

He took the envelope from her mouth and looked up when he saw Rody and all of the gifts that were in his hands. 

Immediately, his face practically bled red. Steam practically came out of his ears and a brief high-pitched whine fell from his lips. “R-Rody...?!” Swallowing hard, he approached his boyfriend. “Y-you got all of this for me?!” 

How was he supposed to react to this?! He’d never gotten a Valentine’s Day gift before! Much less, not from someone he was dating! Ah! It felt like his heart was about to beat out of his chest!

There was the smallest moment of panic, a muffled chirp coming from Rody's ponytail.

"..A costume that looks like yours. For Pino. I can't find one anywhere; looks like I'll have to make it myself."

“Why isn’t there a Deku one?”

“A Deku one of what?” 

Pino rubbed at her face with her wings, as if Rody was trying to shake his own panic away. He couldn’t help but squint at the small motion she did. Thankfully, it wasn’t easily readable... This time around anyway.

“Hm?” Rody glanced over at Deku, his worries about Pino expressing his emotions being brushed to the side. “You think so?” He brought the outfit away from the pink bird to check the price tag. “Hm... Not too bad. I guess she does deserve something.” He grinned as he gave the bird a pat and rub to the head.

Once that was done, Pino hopped onto Rody's shoulder, his focus back on his friend. "I can go pay for this and then we can head to the next place, that sound good?"

It took everything in Izuku not to start bouncing up and down where he was standing. He was waiting outside of Gate 15 for an incoming flight from Otheon. Finally, after seven long months of waiting, today was the day! 

Rody was visiting him in Japan!

They had been planning this for months. Instead of spending his extra money on All Might merchandise, he focused all of it towards Rody’s travel expenses and anything they’d end up doing while together for the week. They had practically talked every other day ever since Rody had saved up money to buy a cell phone. They had learned a lot about each other in that time, and despite the long distance between them, Izuku still felt as if they were becoming closer than ever.

So, really... it wasn’t much of a surprise that this was the most excited he’d felt in a very long time. 

As soon as he spotted Rody’s face, his eyes lit up as bright as the sun. He couldn’t help but rush forward and pull the other young man into a fierce hug. He could feel himself tearing up, but he managed to keep the tears at bay. He couldn’t keep the grin off of his face even if he tried to. 

“I can’t believe you’re actually here right now!” he exclaimed with a cheerful laugh. “It’s so great to see you again, Rody!”

After the envelope was taken, Pino settled down in her favorite resting spot: Izuku’s hair. The nervousness Rody felt was still present, but the pride he felt being able to surprise Deku this much was amazing.

He laughed, nerves mixed within it. He would be rubbing his neck if he had a free hand. “No, it’s all for Pino, obviously.” Rody playfully kicked the red mess’s leg. “Of course it’s all for you! Who else would I buy all this lovey-dovey stuff for? Though, if you want all of this...” He gestured with his head at the envelope Izuku was holding.

“...You have to open that first.”

His heart still leapt whenever Rody said his first name. He couldn’t keep the smile off of his face even if he tried.

“Ah, y-yeah!” he stammered. “I know how much you wanna become a pilot so I thought you’d like practical things that pilots need to have.” He beamed. “I’m glad you like them!”

The other gift bag contained the same rainbow colored bird perch they saw at the mall together. It had bells dangling off of the bottom of it. He remembered Pino enjoying the display version of the perch and and went back to the same store to purchase it.

Another pet that she would happily accept. Her next two chirps almost sounded like a ‘thank you’ towards the hero.

Since his focus was partly on Pino, Rody only managed to realize that Deku was getting closer to him at the last moment. The kiss had caught him by surprise and flustered him. Dang it, he was doing so good on being calm, cool, and collected until now.

Despite being flustered, he leaned into the kiss, returning it wholeheartedly.

Rody was very proud of himself whenever he got Izuku to blush profusely. It was easy to accomplish, but still, he liked being the reason for it.

"Hm," he hummed happily after Deku gave his reasoning for the gifts, shooting him a warm smile. "Very thoughtful of you, hero. These will definitely come in handy, thanks again."

Pino immediately warmed up to his hand, pressing into it. What a sucker for affection...

With that cue, Rody set his gifts down, rummaging around in Pino's gift bag. He could hear the bells ringing before he even got hold of the item and immediately recalled what it was.

"Geez, you really are thoughtful." He pulled out the perch in a swift and playful motion, holding it out towards Pino to show it off. 

"Look what he got you, girl!" He gave it a shake.

Pino cooed in delight at the sight of the familiar perch, quickly flying over to land on it. She, of course, had to bounce up and down in celebration of the gift, letting the ringing of the bells echo out around them. Looks like she loved it.

Izuku wore a small flush on his face as he approached his frie--boyfriend. He held a decently sized gift bag in his hands and held it out towards Rody. "H-happy birthday!" he managed with a bright smile. Inside was a portable pilot's tool kit and case as well as a pilot's LED pen. There was even another gift bag reserved for Pino. "I wasn't sure if Pino was born around your birthday so I thought I'd get her something too," he added sheepishly.

Rody was surprised to see the other approach with gifts. Did he ever tell the hero his birthday?

He smiled with a faint blush, politely taking the gifts from his boyfriend. His look softened more at the mention of Pino. Rody loved that Deku took her into account.

"Heh, we usually celebrate the same day since it's easier that way." Pino chirped in, happily ruffling her feathers. As Rody began to fiddle with the gifts and tissue paper, Pino flew over to Deku, pecking his cheek before getting comfortable on his shoulder. “Thank you though, Izuku. You really didn’t need to get me anything.”

Upon seeing what was in his gift bag, he had to smirk. “Well well, the little nerd has been doing his research, eh?” The brunette teased as he pulled out the tool kit and pen. Deku was already spoiling him... he had a good idea of what these things cost. He was excited nonetheless about the gifts, which was displayed through Pino’s little hops on the hero’s shoulder.

Rody held up the pen, smoothly flipping it through his fingers. “Definitely going to be using this for my late-night studying.” He couldn’t resist clicking the pen and turning the light on and off. He was having fun; he would get to Pino’s gift in a moment.

Being pulled closer was a welcomed surprise. His face was already so warm from the blushing, and now the body heat- he felt like he could pass out at any moment. In a good way.

When Deku pulled back, Rody watched him with a smile as his thumbs traced over his freckles. "I-It was mine, too.." He continued watching the flustered mess in front of him with adoration.

A soft laugh came from him as he rested his forehead against the hero's, a new calmness washing over him that allowed him to speak properly. "How about yes to both of those, huh? I have no experience in this sort of thing either but... it would be foolish of me to say no to those questions."

"...Can I have another? Ya know, to make sure this isn't a dream. Not because I want to kiss you again or anything." There's that classic Rody snark.

“S-so, you’ve actually checked out my ass...?!” he asked with an audible voice crack. What did that mean?! Did that mean Rody was attracted to him?!

The amount of happiness and warmth that Rody felt while listening to Deku laugh just proved how hard he actually fell for him. Rody couldn't help but smile at the display. He really was too cute. And the way he was always so gentle with Pino, it really meant a lot to him. Pino happily settled into Deku's hair, burying her face into the curls.

The way the hero said Rody's name made chills run down his spine. He never heard his name spoken like that. Seeing the other approach caused him to fidget in place. "I-Izuku..." The name was said quietly with hesitation, but also with a sort of longing.

There was a moment of panic that was quickly shoved aside by thoughts of how his lips were really as soft as they looked, and how cute it was that Deku had to reach up to make their lips meet. He smiled against the hero's lips, returning the kiss with the same amount of passion and delicacy, letting his hands come up and hold those adorable freckled cheeks.

Rody nodded as if to say "you're welcome" for the compliments. He noticed the small smile on Izuku's face and he knew his own embarrassment was worth it.

He was practically shutting down as Deku kept speaking. Rody wasn't used to this type of situation. He never had a crush. No one ever flustered him to this extent. How dare Deku make him like this! He swears that this is the fastest his heart has ever been, and he's ran away from cops and villains before!

Ah, is this what they call a confession?

He wanted to put up a front and say something snarky along the lines of 'well, who wouldn't like me?' But he couldn't with how sincere Deku was being. He also just... couldn't speak. Damn it. This wasn't a good time for words to escape him.

That's right.. Pino could do it for him.

Rody hesitantly opened up his hands, Pino shooting out from them almost immediately. The manifestation of his feelings flew at Deku's face full force, giving his freckles delicate pecks with her beak as Rody peeked up at them. Well, at least she didn't go for the mouth.

Rody never said it out loud... But it was true. The fact Izuku came to that conclusion threw Rody for a loop. How was he supposed to admit that??

Rody's panic vanished as Deku spoke of his insecurities, going into full support mode. "Hey hey, there's nothing to apologize for. I'm sure plenty of people actually find you attractive, but never say it out right. It's... embarrassing to admit that kind of stuff, ya know?" He looked down at his closed hands where Pino still resided, biting at his lip in thought.

"You have unruly soft hair, bright eyes, star-like freckles, a nice physique, and a personality that's like sunshine. You're... adorable really. I think anyone you meet will come to that conclusion, even if they try and deny it." Rody wanted to make Deku feel better, even if it was embarrassing for him to speak the truth about his own thoughts towards the hero's appearance.

Another loud squawk came from Rody's hands, his heartrate picking up. Looks like the panic was back. Deku didn't just say that, right? Rody looked up at the other to get a read on his expression before quickly looking back down. This was too much for his heart to handle. He wasn't expecting the conversation to go in this direction.

His leg started to bounce out of anxiousness, his gaze focused on his hands. "How... can you say that so outright, Deku..." The brunette mumbled, unable to make eye contact as his face heated up.

Seeing Deku get even redder was causing Rody's mind to buffer. The hero was embarrassed, but he was so cute- no- stop thinking like that! Now's not the time! Pino was persistent, pecking away at his palms as his hands twitched. Pino couldn't be free at a moment like this. No way.

“See! A perfectly reasonable explanation!” He said in response to Deku’s work out answer. Maybe he could get out of this conversation with that.

Or not.

He was rendered speechless at the hero’s question. Part of him wanted to run out of here, but he knew that wouldn’t really do anything. “Um...” Rody tried to hide his face into his own shoulder. He wasn’t used to feeling like this, whatever this feeling was, so it took him a moment to finally respond with what he thought was a proper answer. “...Y-Yes? I mean... I saw the back of you a lot while we travelled and observed you so... I would be lying if I said no.” Now he just hoped that he didn’t make Deku uncomfortable.

Izuku was blushing so deeply that the red reached the tips of his ears. "D-do you really think my hero costume is that skin-tight?" he squeaked out.

Abort mission. Abort mission. Abort mission.

Pino squawked as Rody physically stumbled and grabbed the bird to hide her in a panic. The squawking persisted as Rody did his best to keep up his cool and calm front, even though the blood rushing to his face was betraying him.

"W-Well-!" A voice crack. Not a great start. "Ahem- It's not that skin-tight. Like, it could be MUCH tighter- it's just slightly tight- Plus!! You work out! You do squats, don't ya? That, combined with your costume, come on. It's just a natural place for the fabric to hug."

That explanation worked, right?

7. Cuddle

Well... Rody wasn’t opposed to this. He would be lying if he said he never thought about holding Deku the way he was right now. All those nights they spent sleeping just a foot or two away from each other... Especially on that cold cave floor. If they had cuddled then, they would have been so much warmer!

A down-right shame that this would only last seven minutes...

Rody adjusted himself a bit, glancing at the freckled boy. His hand gently squeezed the other’s arm. 

“You comfy, hero?”

His hands gripped Deku’s shirt with such desperation. He didn’t want him to be sad; he didn’t want him to be sorry. Rody hated to see him in such a state. He wished he could take all the weight off of his shoulders.

“Sh.. Sh..” Rody started rubbing and patting Deku’s back, trying to give him as much comfort as he could. He could only imagine what his partner had been through. Though, it was obvious it had been a lot; far too much for a teenager to handle. He was still a kid.

“It’s okay now... You’re in here. Not out there. You can let it all out. I’m here for you.” His words sounded choked. He was full on crying now and was doing his best to not sound like he was. Rody wanted to be the support that Deku needed.

“...I would carry you up to your room if I could.” He started, trying to lighten the mood even a little bit.  A gentle hand ran up through green hair. “But I’m not as big and strong as my boyfriend, nor do I know where the room is but... a cuddle session is in high demand right now.”

Izuku was tired. Exhausted, honestly. Physically, emotionally, and any other type of exhausted that existed. After Uraraka managed to convince the civilians to let him rest at U.A., the last of his adrenaline drained from him. He could barely stand, so it was no surprise when his male classmates lifted him into the air and carried him off to the bath. 

Though, as he was being carted off, he managed to glance around at the familiar surroundings of the common area. Though he’d been away for nearly two months, it felt more like an entire year instead. 

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted an oddly familiar pink bird flying across the living room. There was no way, right...? 

There was no way he was here...! 

He was just hallucinating from exhaustion. That had to be it! Still, Izuku could feel his heart ache as he was pulled into the bathroom.

"Oh? Can't wait for all the fun facts I'll get to hear then." If only Rody really knew the amount of All Might information he would be in for.

Rody put the All Might costume back for the moment being, reaching out to take the hoodie from Deku. Their hands brushed against each other as he took it out of the greenette's hand. He definitely took notice of that, but showed no reaction. Pino looked away during the interaction.

He observed the hoodie, thumbs rubbing against the fabric. "We already match with our headbands so, it's not much of a stretch to match outfits too." Rody held the hoodie up to Pino. No confident hero pose this time around, but she did seem content with the outfit.

“Well, she does like it. No surprise there.” He let out a soft laugh.

It took everything in Izuku not to start bouncing up and down where he was standing. He was waiting outside of Gate 15 for an incoming flight from Otheon. Finally, after seven long months of waiting, today was the day!

They had been planning this for months. Instead of spending his extra money on All Might merchandise, he focused all of it towards Rody’s travel expenses and anything they’d end up doing while together for the week. They had practically talked every other day ever since Rody had saved up money to buy a cell phone. They had learned a lot about each other in that time, and despite the long distance between them, Izuku still felt as if they were becoming closer than ever.

So, really... it wasn’t much of a surprise that this was the most excited he’d felt in a very long time. 

As soon as he spotted Rody’s face, his eyes lit up as bright as the sun. He couldn’t help but rush forward and pull the other young man into a fierce hug. He could feel himself tearing up, but he managed to keep the tears at bay. He couldn’t keep the grin off of his face even if he tried to. 

“I can’t believe you’re actually here right now!” he exclaimed with a cheerful laugh. “It’s so great to see you again, Rody!”

Gray eyes followed Deku as he looked at the clothes. "Silver age?” He exhaled out of his nose. “Oh right. I guess it only makes sense you know the difference between his costumes. You do look up to him after all.” Rody reached over and grabbed the tiny costume, holding it up to Pino. He laughed as she posed confidently.

“Aw, what a cute little hero you are!” He grinned over at Deku. “She’s the spitting image of All Might, don’t you think?”

Deku was so... bright about everything. Even if it was just about cats.

“Ha...” It was admiring really. 

Rody followed him into the store, glancing back over at the cats now that they were inside. He quietly hoped that they would find good homes. He looked up to the signs, squinting at the writing. Rody had started studying Japanese in his free time, but hadn’t had the chance to test his skills out in the real world. It seemed like he was still a struggling to read. 

He caught up to Deku, squeezing past the same customers, eyes running over the collection of toys. As if on cue, Pino flew over and landed on the perch, bells ringing as she did so.

“Cute-” She began hopping in place, the bells ringing more and more with each hop. “Okay I can see a small issue.”

Oblivious to Izuku's malfunctioning, Rody continued walking with his hands in his hoodie pocket, grinning as his eyes wandered.

It still felt unreal to be here. He wanted to take in every moment the best that he could.

Upon arrival, Rody watched Deku with a smile as he gushed over the cats. He only approached and stood next to the hero at the window once he questioned him.

"Oh, Pino's fine." Rody waved his hand as if to say not to worry about it. "Those cats can't get to her so there's nothing to be concerned about. There are a ton of stray cats back home too, so she's used to them."

With that said, Rody got a closer look at the cats, Pino peeking with interest as well. "Call me boring, but I've always liked the orange ones. Maybe because.. they're a happy color?"

Rody leaned over in curiosity, trying to peek at his phone. He basically ended up being shoulder to shoulder with Deku from leaning so close.

He hummed at the suggestion, looking up at his own forehead. He thought it was nice that Deku was thinking of her. Pino hopped in place with a chirp. She was all for it.

Rody chuckled. “Looks like she likes the idea.” He peeked back at the map on the hero’s phone. “Well, let’s not keep her waiting.” He playfully bumped his shoulder with his own, starting to walk in the direction of the store.

Izuku didn’t realize how close Rody was close to him until he turned his head to speak. Or, at least, he tried to speak. If Izuku had leaned in any further, their faces would have touched! The thought was enough to make his cheeks grow hot. 

So…close…!!

Still, he managed a smile when Pino expressed her enthusiastic approval of his suggestion. He was amazed with himself that he even managed to bump Rody’s shoulder back in return. “U-uh… right!” he stammered, trying his best not to let his flustered state get any worse.  

He quickly pulled ahead so he could remember to breathe as he led the way towards the storefront. Why was his heart racing so much…?! It reminded him too much of when he’d blush around Uraraka. 

Thankfully, the pet store wasn’t too far. He shelved his wandering thoughts and  distracted himself by staring at the kittens in the storefront window. The kittens’ fur were of varying shades and patterns. One was orange striped, another was spotted with brown and black, and the most energetic of the three was mostly black save for a white “tux” at the front of her chest. 

Izuku gasped loudly, his eyes growing brighter as he continued to watch them. “Oh, wow! They’re so cute!” He turned to look at Rody. “Is Pino alright with cats?” The last thing he wanted to do was cause the bird any distress.

Pino flew back towards him with a loud chirp. It caused Rody to look up since she had only been flying around silently before. Something must have caught her attention.

Rody froze in place at the sight suddenly in front of him. His heart felt like it was going to leap out at any moment. He was so happy but so so worried at the same time. These emotions were stirring up within him and needed to be let out.

"..Izuku."

Rody prepared for the hug once he saw Deku take his first steps. Upon impact, he stumbled back a bit but kept them both up right nonetheless. His heart shattered at the sound and sight of Izuku sobbing. He quickly wrapped his arms around him, giving a tight, comforting squeeze.

It didn't take long for Rody to start tearing up, burying his face into the green mess of hair, holding him even closer.

"...Y-You had me worried sick..."
