I like the maybe foreshadowing of the scene ? At least i hope it foreshadow or else it's gonna be yet again a great cover used somewhere it doesn't belong
Omfg this already pisses me out
Why would Riley be scared fr , isn't blaire your girlfriend?? Doesn't she respect you and listen to you ???
It genuinely feels the most regular conversation we where able to get so far , its fluid and makes sense
This is also a nice insight on the characters
Blaire self awareness and empathy and the same for Jaden, wich knowing Riley will end up with Jaden simply strike me as weird , rusty is basically modeling Jaden after blaire except for the "gendie" stuff . Jaden isn't her own person and rather a reflection of what attracts Riley
So , youre gonna tell me blaire can just guess stuff about Jaden but not realize her own gf discomfort and issues ?? It's such a terrible line of writing , because it sets blaire for failure right at the start , with a gf that uncomfrontational that obviously doesn't want to work on her issues then yes their couple is doomed because Riley has the key of communication and refuses to use it
Its a sweet scene that highlights what Riley likes in a person , but again , its something that is reflected onto Jaden, she isn't a person and rather plot point , she's not the one living theses events she's rusty vehicule to tell a story wich never truly worked in any media , you need to be able to have empathy nor relate for the main character wich cannot be done if the main character is a shell
in the events like Jaden where she isn't a character (wich she should be at this point we are at the 8 chapter) it's dull and will only attract shallow individuals that project themselves onto your work rather than consume it (see ya dystopia stories) i have no doubts the writers behind theses meant to create powerful yet relatable main character
But the issue is to be palatable and attract an audience that was deemed as too dumb (women) the main characters are vehicules of their stories
Wich divergence missed the mark terribly , it gave off a shallow power fantasy where instead of people deconstructing her work and understanding it they projected themselves into it and became way too attached to be critical of it
And the same is happening with leasebound , Jaden is the vehicule because rusty simply can't write compelling characters
The most compelling ones are thoses we see the least because we don't have enough time with them to actually see their development (or rather lack of in this comic)
And that's exactly my point coming stronger
Jaden is an empty shell only there to be what the viewer will impose onto her
She's not too good or too bad , she's not too nice or too mean , a perfect middle of everything , the characters with the most personality is blaire , she put boundaries , talk , has strong opinions
While Riley and Jaden don't have anything, they're bland , they're nothing except vehicules for a stagnant story
Just yikes
If you can't handle social interaction including people making sure they're respecting you then don't talk to people
Like , terfs will complain that people uses they/them as neutral/when they don't know but then complain when they get their pronouns asked ? It's a fight you cannot win because in either case they will complain , hence proving again it's a movement that lies in women being victims rather than strong forces
Im not sure if this is a trope but the dumbification of really smart women by the author is always a very interesting thing to happen in my opinion
Jaden is a medical major , she absolutely had to go trough years of English she knows about pronouns , showing confusion about *why* pronouns would've been the way to go
And honestly it only support my point about the emptiness of Jaden's character
And i don't think its on purpose , but dumbifying a black women only support further bad stereotypes and misogynoire, because at the same time that it's weirdly racist to think a black person wouldn't know about pronouns it's also misogynistic because Jaden is a women so rusty is actively being misogynistic under her audience nose like, yall are going to say radfeminism is for everyone but then you will portray a black women who GRADUATED in medicine as unknowing of pronouns ?
And to add onto this
Her audience actively masculinize the black woman , wich is insanely weird , and racist at worst
You complain about people asking your pronouns , using they/them as default
But then do this to a fictional black women ?? How do yall act with black women irl then ??? Its worrying
Im sorry but what
Did I miss a page or something??? There's is nothing to transition or that make sense between theses 2 pages
Like where did the dishes thing came from ??
Also it's crazy work to give Jaden ashy ass palms , that chapter was terrible in normalized racism , again I don't think that rusty is inherently racist , but she follows a movement rooted in white centered interest and was known to dislike black women or see them as too masculine so therefore "not really women"
Genuinely what's going on , there's for sure pages missing because wtf
There's nothing in between where are all theses come from
What's going on with Riley??? Like it's so badly portrayed , its exactly of neurotypicals will portray panic attacks because they thinks it's that overwhelming thing
And its also a very bad case of "narrative mental illness" because Riley anxiety isn't portrayed accurately at all and only becomes relevant when it serves the narrative wich it doesn't work like that , the main issue is how it's portrayed
Truly in the last 3 pages we get an anxious Riley but then page 2 we get an okish Riley?? And last page she get anxious over what??? It's such bad writing for real its so bad
yknow brainwashing is a huge part of cults and people always like to claim trans people are brainwashed...
Why would they be brainwashed 😭
All I see about trans people is that they're ""dangerous predators"" and are oftentimes victims of horrific violence, bullying, and abuse. Brainwashing doesn't work like that, bro. I don't look at stories of trans people being brutalised and think "Oh, transness sounds exciting!"
In fact, it makes me feel that the people who oppose trans people are brainwashed. Some of the leaps you have to make are insane. Men won't go through years of HRT and surgery to get into women's bathrooms- I don't know if you know this, but society treats abusive men better than trans women. And the "cult pamphlet compared to the trans pamphlet" really takes the cake.
I'm cis, I'm planning on remaining cis. This is just bullshit. Being transgender is not at all equal to a gender essentialist cult that believes in stifling women's roles. And it's crazy that you'd even come to that conclusion.
You haven't been in trans spaces. You've only heard of trans people- and those words come out of the mouths who want to pull the wool over your eyes. Like rusty!
I'm not gonna speculate on why people turn transphobic- I don't think it can be done in one text post by my dumbass, but can yall grow tf up😭
current posts are making the lb tag so much more bearable love the non terf audience wooo

I would like to share the story of Khaled Smeer, who once lived a stable life as the manager of one of the largest malls in Gaza. In addition to his management role, Khaled worked as an English translator, leading a busy life filled with activity and interaction with others. He lived in northern Gaza with his family, and everything was going well until the war broke out.
As the conflict intensified and the bombings escalated, Khaled’s home was completely destroyed. In a matter of moments, he and his family lost everything they had; no home to shelter them and no resources to rely on. Life was no longer the same. Now, Khaled lives in northern Gaza, where conditions worsen every day. They are struggling with severe hunger, with no access to the basic necessities of daily life—no food, no clothing, and no safe place to stay.
In the face of this tragedy, Khaled decided to start a campaign asking for help. He isn’t just asking for himself, but for all those who suffer like him. Khaled is trying to leave Gaza in search of safety and a chance to start over. However, he faces a significant obstacle: it costs 5,000 USD per person to leave when the border crossing opens.
Khaled’s words are filled with both pain and hope. Today, he is asking for your help, whether by sharing his story or donating to his cause. Every small contribution makes a difference. Thank you to everyone who reads Khaled’s story, and to all those who offer any form of support for Palestine. ♥️

Just some thoughts about Jacob
Is it weird for me to say that I don't think Jacob grew up with male socialisation as much as the average man his age would?
By all accounts, Jacob has been raised by women and the most important people in his life have been women. Sure he has male friends, but the majority of his life have been women, mostly gender nonconforming women who don't adhere to the traditional gender roles.
We can chalk up his insistence to not do chores as simple teenage laziness rather than male socialisation, other than that, there has been NO INDICATION that Jacob is inherently misogynistic.
So it's really weird how people just loathe him for no reason.

femininity being defined by the patriarchy isn't something I'm denying. I'm saying that with the changing roles (it's spelled roles, by the way) of women and the perception of women in society, we have the power more than ever to reclaim our agency and our definition of modern femininity without it being bastardized by misogyny.
One of those ways is our style and dress.
I've never said that a full face of makeup is empowering. I'm saying that women who do wear makeup and heels are often belittled because of how femininity is perceived, and instead of treating them like brainwashed handmaidens, we should be accepting of all styles of expression against our (mutual) oppressorsthe freedom of dress and style is just the tip of the iceberg for greater bodily autonomy over women. Girls can wear make up as well as be taken seriously. Girls can be unshaven, bare faced, and wear more masculine clothing and also be taken seriously (because butches aren't taken seriously).
I'm just saying that we don't have to other-ize women the way TERF ideology so often does.
GOALEEEEEEE
Felt like doing some edits of our beautiful girl Bagi, in all her glory. She's slaying too hard for Rusty's liking, I understand where the envy comes from.
@fluffytimearts @angelmelon @codabound
Love the inherent "I'm not like other girls" attitude present in all TERF media. Like you'll call yourself a supporter of all women but mock women who wear makeup and dress feminine?
Femininity has been influenced by patriarchy and patriarchal standards, but we have platforms to break down those patriarchal standards by redefining feminity on our own terms. Mocking feminine women won't do shit.
I think being "not like other girls" is something very in line with TERFs, such as JK Rowling's worst villain being incredibly feminine and Lavender Brown and Cho Chang being villainised for being normal teenage girls in a relationship.
(hot take: Harry Potter was a shit boyfriend to Cho and Ron was a shit boyfriend to Lavender)
But Rusty's brand of "not like other girls" involves her ideology and being in the know. She often portrays other women who aren't butch or radical feminists as "brainwashed" and "victims". It's a very patronising way of viewing women who just don't identify with the TERF view of "good women".
And don't even get me started on queer women who are ace, trans, and many more that don't fit in their LGB label. If it's not a woman they can sexualise or fantasise about, the LB TERF crew will mock and belittle them.
TERFS are surprisingly intolerant of other women, even though they say they aren't.
Talked very briefly about this in the Leasecord server, but the portrayal of Faith has always pegged me as sort of odd considering like...
・She is so sheltered from the idea of men that she doesn't even understand why a man/boy would be in a household
・She hasn't been written, at least not as of yet, to have any friends her own age, not from school or anywhere else, in fact the only interaction she's had at all with another kid is the kid she beat up. All of her friends are the grown adult members of Yonqiue, basically being raised by them
・She's somewhat pushy and clingy and it kind of seems like she doesn't understand boundaries in relations to other girls, especially Jaden, who she has a crush on. While it's completely normal for a young child to have a crush on an adult, it is a tad bit weird how much the other adults around her sort of encourage how clingy she is towards Jaden.
・It's honestly doubtful that she'd likely EVER make friends in a real world scenario, because the way she's being raised is just setting her up for other kids to think she's a bully. She's being raised by incredibly judgemental TERF women who have raised her on the idea that men and being effeminate are completely terrible and a failure of a woman, so she'd basically be the equivalent of a "I'm not like other girls" girl, only at a much earlier age, and much meaner. It's fine for her to be a tomboy/masculine, it's not fine that this'll probably be used as a catalyst for her to bully and harass other girls because that's what she thinks is justice. And even if she were to find some TERF friends who are like her, what are the chances that they'd even tolerate her considering they might just also hate her for being lesbian or black, or even just hate her for being a tomboy since, surprise surprise, being a TERF usually comes packaged with being bigoted and hateful towards... Literally anything else. In fact, Rusty and this comic are the one and only time I've seen TERFs actually advocate for women being more masculine or tomboyish considering every other TERF media I've seen will literally scream that a woman is a man in disguise if she's not walking around built like Jessica Rabbit.
Soooo... TL:DR
Yonique kind of runs like a cult, and I feel incredibly bad for Faith. Let's just hope she never gets unsupervised internet access like most of us did and finds websites like Amino, because I'm sure her grown adult TERF friends and Rusty would never even consider the idea that women can also be child predators.
Getting some real Caleb and Sophia vibes. Can't wait for the TERFs to rip me a new ass for this one.

I think if there was a lb tf2 au we should not erase the war crimes. Just a thought.
On that note: drunken one eyed Jaden with a sword that begs for heads.
This ain't even slow burn at this point, this is responsible fire handling 😭
You gotta commend Rusty for never putting a lit candle where a curtain is. And by that I mean wasting time rather than developing her main characters.
We got an entire chapter for a side character who had only a dozen of lines before getting her own chapter. The only mc we know about is Jaden, and Riley is as interesting as a wet paper towel used to clean up the milk I spilt this morning.
Leasebound's main plot is just uninteresting, can't wait for Jaden and Blaire to kiss at the Ballroom and then dance together.
Decided to scourge through the comic a little, and here is a compilation of the few times where there's some actual romantic chemistry that's written between Jaden and Riley.
Yep. You're seeing this right. Only 5. Only 5 actual moments that I have counted between these two who are supposed to get together by the end of this comic that actually consist of romantic chemistry between them. Made somehow kind of worse that 2/5 of these actually consist of Jaden kinda sorta reciprocating feelings, while the rest are just Riley pining and Jaden just being like "so cool bestie :)"
I don't understand the obsession with sex and all things physical in terms of showing attraction.
It's one of those mentalities that let porn take such presidence in our society- that sex is fundamentally, something everyone shows to prove they're "attracted" to something. And that later leads to the degradation we see later on in r*pe fantasies and exploitation that have been, in fact, popularised by pornography.
Sex in modern society is just a way to present control; over women, over other people, and as we saw earlier, over minority groups people see as "needing to be fixed". Sex has fundamentally become the ultimate show of power, and a lot of things aren't helping it.
Sex as empowerment needs to be followed up with the reminder that it's just *sex*. Love and appreciation don't have to be physical to be truly meaningful. And it gets lost in so many of the muddled discussions between the hard-core "Abstinence"-ers, the perversion, and the objectification that often ensues in a discussion regarding sex and how we perceive it.
Ultimately, stigmas regarding sex *need* to be broken down. Sex education, sex workers, all of it needs to be discussed and examined because if we keep this all under wraps, we're not letting the right people have the discussion. We ultimately tear ourselves apart using either hushed tones or bigotry against topics regarding sex and sexual attraction.
that's just my two cents, anyway
