Nick: I might have a thing for self sacrificial idiots
Will: *in utter disbelief* might!?
Sel&Bree: *in fighting stance* who is it?
Will:
i'm rereading the legendborn cycle in preparation for oathbound and have some thoughts about nick after legendborn.
i didn't like him the first time around, but as a firm breesel shipper i wanted to take my shipper glasses off and give him an actual shot.
verdict: i kinda hate him more
sel is 100% right. nick is spoiled and selfish as hell. he doesn't give a shit about anything but bree and his feelings and it shows. i don't think he had any obligation to the taking on his position as arthur's scion, but if he doesn't want it then he cannot throw it around when it benefits him.
he just comes of as some oblivious dummy, and on occasion i believe he's absolutely blind to the struggles bree faces not only as a black woman, but as a black woman within the historically white Order. putting her on the spot in a room full of people who view her as an outsider with absolutely no hesitation or concern is dangerous and he doesn't seem to give a shit.
also, i despise what he does to sel. i understand that what sel did was shitty, not disputing that. but attacking someone who can't fight back and explicitly state he did it because he can't fight back? fuck this guy.

Legendborn and Bloodmarked Spoilers
Iāve been seeing people are conflicted about Nick having a villain arc. Some people think he will others think he wonāt.
Personally I think he will, we find out in Legendborn he lost his mother when he was a child because of the Order. Now in Bloodmarked he lost his father because of the Order. He lost Selwyn because of the Orders bullshit. (Because if they just had accepted Bree in the beginning he wouldnāt had to suck Brees powers which causes him to succumb to his blood. (But without all the shenanigans we wouldnāt have met valacki (donāt know how to spell his name sorry)) also since him and Selwyn are bonded we arenāt even taking about āthe grievingā which we saw multiple characters who have been going through it and how itās effected them. Now heās lost Bree, he doesnāt know she went on her free will so she could get Selwyn healed but now he thinks the Order has her.
This man has lost almost everything he loves, what else does he have to lose? The order? Heās about to destroy the order any means necessary and I mean he might even try to kill Bree. ļæ¼
I think their will be a time skip like a big one, maybe a year or two. This is gonna be a year or two of Nick being alone. Selwyn will most likely come back but I feel like Nick will be to far gone.
But what do yāall think? I need to have a conversation about this book and no one I know in real life has ever read it so, any theories?
Both other than that, stan Valaki!
Just finished Bloodmarked the second book in the Legendborn cycle and I donāt know wtf to do with my life anymore.
Slight spoilers
Nickās character wasnāt really in the story a lot but I feel heās gonna go down a villain arc in the next book. I feel like he loves Bree but his hate for the Order is gonna over shadow his love and heās gonna do something crazy. Especially after the ending because heās gonna blame the Oder for what happened.
Selwyn, I love Selwyn in this book. Did he piss me off? Yes. Did he make it up later on? HELL YES. I canāt wait to see him in the next book.
Bree, personally Bree can do no wrong in my eyes. I support black womanās rights and wrongs. It kept pissing me off she trusted theses old white men but I understood where she was coming from. I also didnāt like how it took forever for her and Sel to have the conversation but when they did I was squealing. But other than that Bree is perfect in every way imaginable and she deserves better and to be happy.
more. I need more-
Bree could not catch a break during this entire book ššš
