Mascot Madness definitely involved some madness
For those who have been following Oakie the Acorn, round 3 of the college mascot tournament poll they’re in ended with their opponent being withdrawn by the school, Stony Brook, because students cast “excessive votes,” probably using bots.
So Oakie has moved on in the competition, and we will continue with our art posts for Oakie. (If you vote for Oakie and like this post or otherwise let us know, we will post art)
Semifinals are today (12pm) until Friday (3pm).
We’d appreciate support for our acorn!

Thank you @amanita-strange-and-true for voting for Oakie! This is a traditional piece we did together in an Entomology Club activity. The moth is a sphinx moth (family Sphingidae) :)

Oakie’s opponent is also… not the nicest. "Wolfie the Seawolf" from Stony Brook University, is quoted as saying these things on the official Mascot Madness webpage.

the only officially queer mascot in the tournament
also the only plant

Posting silly propaganda for a poll battle not on this hellsite again; everybody support my favorite non-binary acorn.
Oakie the acorn is our school's mascot and they're the silliest. Every year there is a poll tournament for the best SUNY college mascot and I think they are the tumblr-iest. They're an acorn and officially non-binary. I will post art if people vote for them (and like this post or reply or reblog to let me know) as I have previously.
Anyone want to join my silliness?

My school’s mascot is Oakie the Acorn, and they’re probably the Tumblr-est mascot you could think of.
I mean, they’re an acorn for goodness’ sake, they’re officially non-binary, and they’re all about sustainability. The school they represent is also very tumblr- SUNY ESF is a school dedicated to saving the Earth, and its student culture makes it a place where the genders are queer and the neuros are divergent :) People just stop to stare at a weird mushroom or interesting insect all the time here, and if someone spots them, instead of ridicule, you’ll probably have two people staring.
In conclusion, vote for Oakie!

After I stuck it to my laptop, it tore, so I decided to fix it and make it look intentional. It’s a Shade from Hollow Knight- I love these funky little blobs of void

Oakie just won in the semifinals!
It was insanely close- 50.1% to 49.9%. Each of your votes were crucial! They will be in the finals April 4 - April 6, and I will post about it and do the same art thing as previously!
