I think it was in part because I came across a lot of posts, all of which pointed out that crutchie was always "the ace one" of the newsies, and explained the many issues that arise around disabled characters in fandom spaces. How how they often get reshaped, infantalized and almost always de-sexualized because of ableism. I read all those and went "hang on--yeah-! that's bullshit!"

... but then i thought. huh. which of the newsies would be ace then...?
