Your gateway to endless inspiration
tried drawing the pines family in my style instead of in the show's style (sigh i'm still forced to draw old twinks send help)
you cannot tell me the pines curls is not real
materials: pencil, micro inks, and one old index card from god knows where
If you know, you know, but if someone told them the moistcritical poop joke, Dipper and Mabel would be confused, Stan would laugh his ass off and Ford would create such a look of discomfort, only fanart could portray the emotion correctly.
So, I heard people are celebrating fanfic authors today, and I wanted to take the time to share some of my all-time favorites! (all are Gravity Falls)
Blind Faith, by @pinesinthewoods
Behold, the fic that firmly dragged me into the Gravity Falls fandom! I remember scrolling through GF fics on Ao3 for the first time, and this was one of the very first I read. It’s dark, has heaps of glorious Stan twin angst, and still lingers in my mind to this day.
Towards the Sun, by @pinesinthewoods and @notthistimespock
Out of every single fic I’ve ever read, this one succeeds the most in getting inside the character’s heads. A bit of a canon divergence where, to save Stanley, Ford must confront his brother’s darker side within the mindscape. (Admission: I cried on multiple occasions while reading this.)
Flat Dreams, by PengyChan
I once told myself I’d never feel pity for a triangle. I was bitterly wrong. An amazing imagining of Bill’s childhood, early life, and rise to power… with lots of inspiration from Edwin A. Abbott’s Flatland.
Stars and Trees, by jikanet_tanaka
A set of small scenes and vignettes of Stan’s life, from childhood to present. All of them are focused on the theme of family, and how Stanley relates to the idea over time. They’re very feels-y and sweet, and characterize Stan so well!
The Wind in Visions, by @the-stan-twin and @the-ford-twin
Ah, where do I start with this? Probably the most pure examples of Fiddauthor and Mabifica I can think of. I adore the heaps and heaps of Pines family bonding in this and the slice-of-life feel it has… and yet there’s this feeling of something serious building in the horizon, and wow, I can’t wait to see what happens next with that!
Blue Bayou, by The_Lionheart (@icefeels)
The most fascinating take I’ve seen on Ford’s multiverse years. It features a very well developed OC, (honestly one of the best I’ve seen in this fandom), who becomes Ford’s traveling partner. Their interplay is equal parts hilarious and emotional at times, and is very deep without seeming forced. I really recommend this- it could use SO much more love! (It only has about 100 hits… and that needs to be changed ASAP! :D)
The Triboelectric Effect, by @aroford
An amazing what-if centering around the idea of Stan and Ford accidentally swapping bodies on the electron carpet, way back in ‘82…
Okay, but we all do agree that Stan and Ford send letters with the address where they're going to spend the Christmas to Dipper and Mabel so they can send them gifts and vise versa. Right?
I think that Mabel would send them sweaters that she made. Stan uses them when it's really cold (he pretends that he doesn't like them) and Ford it's always using them (after all, he also loves sweaters). Mabel always makes turtle neck sweaters for Ford because he showed her his tatto once (and she plans to do the same tatto because she loves it) and said that he wanted to hide it.
Dipper would send Ford a copy of a book that he read about paranormal stuff or some accessory of some movie/series/game that they both like and he would give Stan a key chain related to money or cassinos or a pair of pants.
Stan would steal a wallet from someone in the street and send the money he finds there (or in his brother's bedroom) to the twins or he would ask Ford to buy something for them for him. Or he even would walk into a shop and buy the first thing that he sees with glitter or animals and the first thing that screams "NERD" (or that puts Ford's eyes glowing).
Ford sends Dipper books that he liked to read when he was his age and he gives Mabel romance books that have colorful covers or something related to Ducktective.
Is this headcannon or cannon?
EDIT: I didn't know that the Pines are Jewish. So, instead of Christmas, they would buy this gifts for Hanukkah. They buy 8 gifts for eachother (out of the things I said) and they open them during the 8 days of Hanukkah :D
stanford pines you love so deeply even if you’ve spent most of your life burying it. hiding from love is not the same thing as the absence of love.
I should study ; I'm exhausted so I treat myself with drawing things I like.
Clearly, Ford doesn't like Rania. She's always secretive, she usually seems joyful until she meets him or Stan. Thr only thing he knows is that she's keeping secrets and he doesn't want her to mess with him, his brother or the kids. Plus, her "capacities" are not to his liking, at all.
She spends a lot of time with Mabel, the girl is teaching her knitting and she likes it, it helps her relax and it's so satisfying.
She visited the Shack once but seemed pretty amused by most of the stuffed animals and all. However, she went once to Gravity Falls' Museum and she felt awkward, strange... as if there was always someone watching her.
No one knows why she came to Gravity Falls, but she's determined to stay as discreet as possible, for an unknown reason as well.
Enjoyed the stream a lil bit too much. Thank you guys!
