Cady Heron: Field Journal, August 9th. It’s first light and I’m waiting for movement!
(sings)
The lions hide and the grass seems to flood into you
And the cool pools of water have crocodiles underneath
The wild dogs are hunting and it’s 80 in the shade
My name is Cady Heron and I am not afraid
Among the wildlife, wildlife
God, I feel alive
Wildlife, wildlife
The constant struggle to survive
It’s a ____ season after season
The wild...
Wild life!
(spoken)
Jambo!
VILLAGERS
Jambo! Ca-dy! Ca-dy!
CADY
I have danced with the Maasai
I have climbed Kilimanjaro
Who knows what I will do tomorrow?
MRS. HERON
Cady, come back to base camp. At least eat a Kalteen Bar if you’re going to skip breakfast.
MR. HERON
Binti, we have something to tell you.
MR. HERON/MRS. HERON
We knew this day would be coming and now it’s here
CADY
We’re going to inseminate the cheetah!
MRS HERON
No.
(sings)
There’s a job in Chicago
We’ll move in time for your junior year
CADY
But we love it here!
MRS. HERON
Honey, you need to be socialized.
MR. HERON
A real suburban high school
That’ll hold your brilliant mind
MRS. HERON
And sure, it will be different
But it’s just another kind of...
MR. HERON/MRS. HERON
Wildlife, wildlife
Social clubs and sports
Wildlife, wildlife
So pack your khaki hunting shorts
MRS. HERON
Take your handmade sandals
MR. HERON
It’ll be just like Sixteen Candles
MR. HERON/MRS. HERON
The wild...
Wild...
JANIS
Just like that, Cady Heron was plucked from the safe shelter of the lions den.
DAMIAN
And dropped into the tangled underbrush of Northshore, Illinois.

STUDENTS
New kid, junior meat
New kid, what are those on your feet?
New kid, you’ll be beaten
Down like all of us from the homeroom to the bus
Down like all of us from the homeroom to the bus
CADY
Wildlife, wildlife
Look at all these teens
(spoken)
Hi, teens!
(sings)
What they wear, and their hair
How they stare at their little screens
They look like they belong here
And meanwhile I feel wrong here
______
As the lions try to eat me
I had a home that I adored
But now I’m laughed at or ignored
By the local wildlife
The wild...
STUDENTS
Look at the wildlife
CADY
The wild...
STUDENTS
Get back to wild...
CADY
The wild...
Where’s the bus?
Can I go back?
To my old
Wild life
MR. DUVALL
Welcome to Northshore High!
*Please help with the blanks, I'm clueless about them.*
Note: Despite the title being officially "Wild Life", I decided to mostly type "wildlife" as that is the meaning that fits most of the time, however when it was refering to Cady's life in a possesive form I obviously used "wild life".
Credit to YouTube user Legion from writing almost all of this in the comments of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlXunXn2wUg, with only format and minor additions and corrections by me. Thanks for letting me use it! Since no one seems to have written lyrics for DC versions in the ENTIRE INTERNET, I decided to write them myself, specifically for the Opening Night in DC on October 31 2017. I want this to be as accurate as possible, so if you have any tiny correction or suggestion you can tell me, and I'll see if I edit this.
Fun fact: you wouldn't believe how many hours I spent trying to figure out it was Caitlyn Caussin who sang "Kelly, just ignore her". I had to compare the actress who sings it in the tour version where they brought back the line and see using the script which character's lines she also said thus determining which character she played. I'm assuming they didn't change the character in the tour, cause if they did then I'm screwed and we'll never know who it was lmao
