So... They are lying to us all this time just to sell things??

Wait, if they are lying about that then what else are-

ARE ALL HOLIDAYS FAKE?!

...How do epilepsy and bee-keeping relate to valentines...? I mean, I guess honey makes sense, but epilepsy??

I literally just learned of this holiday! And now it's confusing me--

Ah, is the saint's fault!

And Chaucer's, of course... But so many-many things are Chaucer's fault, anyway, so...

Saints are patrons of stuff, in Christianity. Sometimes this stuff has to do with their lives, sometimes not. Lils knows of Valentine's healing-the-blind-daughter-of-his-jailer-thing, but yet he be the patron saint of epilepsy instead, which is funn-y!

Anyway, the connection of Valentine's day to romance an' love is a contrivance of the High Middle Ages, propagated by this Chaucer guy! An' he might've been inspired by the Lupercalia thingy, Lils thinks. Chaucer do be the kind to weave prior traditions in his fantasy of observances.

An' then commercialisation came, an' Valentine's spread from the United Kingdom to all the places the United Kingdom touched!

Point is, Sei-ka, that Valentine's Day has very-very little to do with Valentinus the Roman martyr. Is anachronistic embellishments, for the most part! Valentinus the martyr is patron saint of beekeepers an' epilepsy an' fainting, but Valentine's Day the commercialised, secular Hallmark holiday is day of love!
