IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND ✿࿐

summary: in which y/n is in love with their best friend matt. will she tell him? or does he confess first?

contains: bestfriend!matt, petnames for reader (ma), for matt (sweet boy), use of y/n.

slightly proof read.

i don’t know if this will get a part 2.

SLIGHT PLOT ⚠️

SLOW BURN ⚠️

enjoy! :)

i was with matt in the van.

we were heading home from getting snacks from the store.

nick and chris didnt want to come along, so they made us go. i wasnt complaining because i enjoy spending time with matt.

“what do you want to listen to?”, i asked matt while scrolling through my playlist.

“anything is fine, y/n”, he said while staring at the road in front of him.

i turned on a dominic fike song, our favorite song and matt instantly started humming.

i looked over at him and smiled at him.

he smiled back.

“whats the smile for ma?”, matt teased as he looked at me and then back to the road.

he knew that pet name got to me, he teased me 24/7 with it.

“nothing. just enjoying being with you”, i said as i looked away out of the window.

he put his hand on my thigh.

“i enjoy spending time with you too ma”, he replied chuckling and looking over to me.

my heart flutter and my face grew red.

i was flustered, all i could do was smile back at him, and look away.

he stopped at a red light.

“why are you hiding your face ma, you flustered?”, he questioned grabbing my chin to look at him.

i looked at him, my face red as strawberries.

“you’re so pretty”, he said looking at me as he tilt his head.

he let go of my chin and smirked as he started to drive again.

my breathing grew heavy as i looked back out of the window.

was i imagining things?

he was definitely flirting with me.

“you wanna watch a movie when we get to the house?”, matt asked.

he still had his hand on my thigh.

“y-yeah thats fine….”, i trailed looking forward out of the dash.

he squeezed my thigh.

“you good?”, he said smirking as he looked at me.

i nodded, as i stayed staring forward.

“use your words ma”, he teased with a smirking expression.

“im good, matt”, i responded as my breath hitched.

he looked over at me and back to the road.

after i said that, the ride to the house was quiet.

besides matt humming every once in a while.

we made it to the house and matt took his hand off my thigh finally.

i took my seatbelt off, grabbed the bags and got out of the car.

matt was still in the car and got out a few seconds later.

“got everything ma?”, he asked looking at me.

“yeah”, i responded looking back at him.

he walked over and held my open hand as we walked into the garage.

he unlocked the door and we walked inside.

we made it upstairs and i let go of his hand.

i put the bags down while nick and chris ran into the kitchen.

“did you get what i want. did you get what i wanted?”, nick asked jumping up and down.

“yes nick we got what you want”, matt said as i laughed.

chris followed behind nick.

“wheres my sour skittles?”, chris asked smirking at me.

i dumped the bag onto the counter and everyone grabbed their candies.

nick walked over to the couch and plopped down while chris stayed at the kitchen table.

meanwhile i grabbed a bag of popcorn and started popping it in the microwave.

matt found a bowl and sat it on the counter.

he walked up beside me as i stood at the microwave.

“you wanna watch a movie in my room away from those goobers?”, he whispered into my ear, making me laugh.

nick looked over at us and shook his head looking back at the tv, chris was glued to his phone.

when matt pulled away, i nodded.

“i’d love that”, i said smiling.

he smiled back at me and took the finished popcorn out of the microwave.

we grabbed drinks, our candy, and the popcorn and headed to matt’s room.

when we go to his room, i sat all the stuff onto his desk, and plopped onto the bed.

he smirked, staying behind me a bit, before setting all the stuff down he had in his hands, and plopped down next to me.

he looked over at me.

“what do you wanna watch ma?”, he asked staring at me.

i shrugged my shoulders.

“hmmm, what about hereditary? we haven’t watched that in awhile”, he said smirking.

i smiled, he always knew my favorite things.

“yeah”, i said nodding as my face grew red.

“sounds good ma”, he said still smirking as he got up and grabbed the remote.

i sat up and snagged our snacks from his desk.

i plopped back onto his bed and sat up against the head board.

he scooted next to me and i laid my head on his shoulder as he started the movie.

we were halfway into the movie.

“shit-“, i muttered out as i looked away from the screen.

matt’s head stuck up and he pulled me closer.

“its all good ma, just a jumpscare. you forgot about it, huh?”, he asked chuckling as he looked down at me.

i nervously laughed.

“yeah, yeah i forgot”, i said laughing still as i looked up at matt.

he had this glint in his eye, looking down to my lips, then back to my eyes, but he just turned and faced the tv.

my breath hitched again like earlier.

but i looked back at the movie.

as soon as i knew it, matt had fallen asleep leaned on me.

it was 11 pm when i picked up my phone.

he mumbled a few times in his sleep.

i smiled and laid my head against his.

all of a sudden, a knock at the door.

i opened my eyes and chris had walked in.

matt’s eyes fluttered open and looked up.

“cmon man i was asleep. what do you want?”, matt said throwing his head back.

“nick was wondering if you guys wanted to watch a movie, but looks like you already did”, he said looking at the tv and then back to us in the bed.

“we made popcorn earlier. how did you guys not realize?”, i said laughing.

“you guys made popcorn?”, chris said gasping as he took a step back.

matt scoffed and i laughed.

“you guys do not pay attention”, matt said as he looked back up at chris.

“i’ll leave you guys alone”, chris said as he shut the door behind him.

i sighed and looked over to matt as i slid a piece of his hair behind his ear.

“what now sweet boy?”, i said smiling up at him.

he smiled back at me and kissed me.

“matt, i-“, i said pulling back startled.

“shit. i-i’m sorry ma”, he said looking down and rubbing the back of his neck.

“i- just have wanted to do that for awhile”, he said looking back up at me.

i smiled when he said that, i then scooted back next to him.

he looked back down again.

“i’m sorry ma. i didn’t mean to make anything weird”, he trailed but i stopped him from talking when i pulled his chin up to face me.

i kissed him.

i put my hands around his neck and straddled him.

small sounds and whimpers escaped his mouth as i did.

he instinctively put his hands onto my waist.

i pulled back to look at him.

i laughed a little as i messed with his hair.

“can i tell you something ma?”, matt said looking up at me.

“of course sweet boy”, i said looking down to face him.

“i love you ma. i’ve loved you for awhile now”, he said fluttering his eyes opened and closed still looking into my eyes.

i don’t think i’ve ever smiled so hard before.

i’m pretty sure a few tears formed in my eyes.

“i love you too matt. i love you so much”, i said smiling as a tear fell down my face.

he wiped it and pulled me in for another kiss.

“The Simple Moments”

It was a quiet afternoon when Demetra and you found yourselves curled up together on the couch, the soft light from the setting sun casting a golden glow across the room. You were reading a book, while Demetra, with her head resting on your shoulder, had her phone in hand, scrolling aimlessly. The quiet buzz of the world outside seemed to fade away as you both shared the simple serenity of being together.

“Hey,” Demetra’s voice was soft, like she was testing the air between you. “Do you ever just… think about how nice it is to do nothing with someone?”

You chuckled, glancing down at her. “All the time,” you replied, running your fingers gently through her hair. “You make doing nothing feel like the best thing in the world.”

She smiled, her eyes brightening with that soft, almost shy warmth that always made your heart flutter. “I’m glad. I think I could spend every day like this. Just us, in our little bubble.”

Your heart melted at her words, and you set your book aside, turning to face her. “I think I could, too.”

With a lazy grin, Demetra shifted, her arms wrapping around you in a comfortable embrace. Her fingers traced small circles on your back as she murmured against your skin, “I like the way you make everything feel like it’s exactly where it’s supposed to be.”

You laughed softly, feeling a warmth spread through your chest. “Guess we make a good team, huh?”

Demetra pulled back just enough to look into your eyes, her smile playful. “Definitely. Just don’t go getting used to me being this sweet. It’s a rare sight.”

You giggled, teasing her. “Oh, I’ll cherish every second of it then.”

And with that, she kissed your cheek softly, her lips lingering for a moment before pulling away with a soft sigh. You knew that this, right here, was everything you’d ever need.

Sweet Surprises

It was a bright Saturday morning, the sun shining cheerfully through the curtains of your cozy apartment. You had planned a quiet day for yourself, one filled with books, coffee, and perhaps a little bit of baking. But your mind kept wandering back to her—the bubbly girl from the cafe down the street, Tara. You had met her a few weeks ago; she was the barista with the sweetest smile and a knack for whipping up the most delicious pastries.

Excitedly, you hopped out of bed, your heart fluttering at the thought of seeing Tara again. You decided you’d bake something special and bring it to her at the cafe, maybe even get a chance to chat with her a little longer.

After rummaging through your pantry, you settled on making cupcakes topped with fluffy vanilla frosting and colorful sprinkles—the kind of treat that always brought a smile to your face. You mixed the ingredients with care, imagining how happy Tara would be to receive them.

Once the cupcakes were in the oven, the sweet aroma filled your kitchen, making your stomach rumble with anticipation. After what felt like an eternity, they were finally ready, golden and perfect. You carefully frosted them, adding a rainbow of sprinkles on top, and placed them in a cute box.

With the box in hand, you made your way to Tara’s cafe, your heart racing a little faster with every step. As you entered, the familiar scent of coffee and baked goods engulfed you, making you feel at home. The small establishment was busier than usual, but there she was—Tara, standing behind the counter, her laughter ringing through the air as she interacted with customers.

You approached the counter, trying to hide your nerves. When her eyes landed on you, they lit up, and her smile widened. “Hey there! What a nice surprise! What can I get for you today?” she asked, her voice melodic.

You beamed, handing her the box of cupcakes. “I made these for you! Just a little something to brighten your day.”

Tara’s eyes sparkled with delight as she opened the box, her expression transforming into one of pure joy. “Oh my gosh, they’re adorable! You made these yourself?” she exclaimed, her excitement contagious.

“Yeah, I thought you might like them,” you replied, feeling giddy at her reaction.

“They look amazing! You’re so talented,” she complimented, peering closer at the colorful treats. “Can I try one right now?”

“Of course! They’re meant to be shared,” you said with a grin.

Tara picked one up and took a bite, her face lighting up even more. “Mmm, this is delicious! You have to tell me your secret,” she said between mouthfuls, her eyes sparkling.

You both laughed, your heart swelling at the sight of her enjoying your effort. “It’s really just a simple recipe, but I’m glad you like it!”

As the two of you chatted, the busy cafe faded into the background. You learned about Tara’s dreams and her favorite coffee blends, while she listened intently as you shared stories about your hobbies. It felt easy and natural, as if you had known each other for ages.

After a while, the cafe quieted down, and Tara leaned against the counter, a playful grin on her face. “You know, this has been the best part of my day. I think I need to reward you for these amazing cupcakes.”

“Oh? And how do you plan on doing that?” you teased, your heart racing at the thought.

“How about I make you my special drink? It’s a secret recipe, and I only share it with my favorite customers,” she winked, her confidence shining through.

Your cheeks flushed, feeling a warmth spread through you. “I’d love that,” you said, smiling shyly.

Tara busied herself behind the counter, whipping up the drink with meticulous care. When she returned with a vibrant, colorful concoction, your eyes widened in surprise. “Here you go! I call it ‘The Tara Yummy.’ It’s sweet, a little fruity, and definitely a treat!”

You took a sip, surprised by the explosion of flavors. “This is incredible! You’re a mixologist as well as a baker!”

Tara laughed, her eyes sparkling. “I do my best! But let’s be honest, your cupcakes are the star of the show today.”

The playful banter continued, and as you two exchanged glances filled with unspoken understanding, you felt a spark igniting between you. You knew that this was just the beginning of something sweet—a friendship, or perhaps something even more special.

As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange, you felt grateful for that simple decision to bake. Life had a funny way of bringing people together, and today, it brought you closer to Tara, the girl who made everything feel just a little bit sweeter.

And just like the cupcakes you had made, you realized that this story was just the beginning, with all the potential for many more delicious adventures to come.
