Yet another sidetracked sketch that wasn't meant to turn into anything more. Here's how my WoF characters would draw themselves! Herring (middle right)'s is like that intentionally, he tends to focus on small details and never finish the work, and two of the others were raised in near-total darkness lol

It's unlikely anything Ghost's wearing actually belongs to them. Since having thousands of children and then abandoning all but one of them to die isn't very socially acceptable or physically possible, PK and WL--aristocrats rather than rulers now--had more like seven children or something, and I'm not sure if they got rid of the six who aren't the Hollow Knight somehow or actually raised them normally. It's most likely that they instead had just one heir, THK, but Ghost wouldn't exist in that case so whatever. They're just running around Gristol murdering people it's fine

Pendleton is a weevil, Martin's a snakefly and Havelock's a scorpion, Corvo's a velvet spider, Samuel is a water boatman, Daud's an assassin bug and Billie's an ant. While giving them their most recognizable traits (and while assigning each of them an actual clade of Real Life Bug, something Hollow Knight isn't particularly known for), I realized it's probably more sensible for them to have their own Empire and society (and biology) outside of Hallownest.

While I'm preparing all the art for the main worlds I'm working on right now, take this!

I noticed there was a lack of good humanized designs (PoC especially) for many of the arc protagonists so I drew my own!

Lotus!

Whether she counts as my character is kind of...unclear, as I designed her appearance, her parent, and the AU they live in, yet I didn't play the character and develop her personality.

Whatever.

Lotus is the god of Chaos, child of the gods of light and dark, daughter of Mosaïkó. She takes her title seriously, but her power not so much.

Blight and Herring.

Both these guys have several different descriptions that still all get the main gist of their characters!

Blight

The main feature defining his appearance gave him his namesake. Splattered thoughtlessly across his pale, otherwise nondescript, variously gradient lime scales, are splotches of purple-brown ringed in yellow, most notably dotting his wings, snout and talons.

A pensive, mildly arrogant LeafWing professor with a painless but harmful disorder, typically lethal to males, that leaves brown stains on his scales and chips away at his membranes, shooting his wings through with pinpricks and holes, is Blight. A biology nerd specializing in entomology and botany, he works at the LeafWing Institute of Education, likes tea, salads, philosophy and spending time in dark libraries, and owns a loyal pet sun beetle named Pachnoda (whom he carries around daily on his shoulders or horns). He can be described as thoughtful, a bit melancholy, leaning sometimes off to the indifferent side and sometimes rather haughty.

While he isn't particularly friendly, he sees no time wasted in teaching someone about something he loves.

Herring

His scales are a light gray-blue, with dark overscales and dapples across his back. His horns are a dull gradient, from blue at the base to green to orange, shimmering like washed rainbow shells and bearing a resemblance to his similarly-blended wings and webs, offering many positive comments from those who stare into them. He has conch-pink underscales, and pale peach bioluminescent stripes.

A writer and a minor noble, Herring is a melancholy SeaWing honing his craft in a studio on the coastline of Pyrrhia. He enjoys long walks, hot water, serene days at the beach, and fancy gatherings (in which he, sometimes, may or may not have a bit too much to drink). His preference for air rather than sea does set him apart from the other ocean-dwelling dragons, but made pursuing his current career quite a bit easier. While living above-water, he travels to spend much of his time at events in the rebuilt Summer and Island Palaces and long-standing Deep Palace, partying amongst the other aristocrats.

He makes a good partner for conversation whatever his mood.

They met through a strange (and beautiful, they both agreed) dragon, somehow-mutual friend, Nephrite, suggesting they find each other.

*claps hands together, accidentally smushing a mosquito but it's ok because the mosquito was a jerk anyway* gay dragons

Angler and Magma are, too, some of my older and closer-to-my-heart OCs and here they are!

Anglerfish is a SilkWing/SeaWing whose mother kindofdrownedherfatherandleftheratthebottomoftheocean. Not too strange for Wings of Fire parents, though, amiright?

She roamed the depths of the seafloor figuring herself out for a while before deciding to take a risk and find purpose in her life, discovering the surface is super hot and weird and bright, not helping much that she stumbled onto a volcano isle with a stranger who didn't understand her at all.

Magmacore was aptly named for her seething bright insides. After her parents both, collectively, abandoned her, no murder involved, for seeing her winglessness as a mistake, Magma survived only a few days before she found herself heavily wounded in what she thought would be an anti climactic end to her lifetime. There is strange magic in the isle though, and blood spilled incited, interestingly enough, the life-fluids in her core to transmute into boiling lava.

She spent the rest of her life living alone on the sands, hostile to any who wandered near, until a strange pale dragon swept to shore.

There's another fullbody image of Magma, but it's disproportionate and I'll fix it later

Starting off with my basically-main-character, Mosaïkó! They're a dragon god, sometimes going by the mortal guise of Nephrite, eldest and most powerful but oftentimes a calm and kind figure who has experienced...pretty much everything and is good to go to for guidance.

They live with their demigod partner and child in the God Hall, an Olympus-like place with white marble, blue, and gold architecture heavily inspired by the Isu in AC Odyssey, along with the ten other Gods, one of which they might be crushing on oops

They are very much aware of alternate universes and exist canonically in pretty much every world I've made.

Aster

One of my rainwing OC's for me and my friends WOF AU Divided Wings. Drew this one around the beginning of last year.

A bulkier silent rainwing who was impeached from his position for endangering the rainwing tribes' livelihood and attempting to become more of a dictator.

Once the beloved mate of Mercy and beloved father, the now exiled minister is a fugitive hiding deep within the forest in wild animal territory. His ambition is seen as too dangerous causing him to be cast out. He wants to be a king and return the rainwings to total isolationism, cutting all contact with all the other tribes and making the rainwings more feared than ever. His ambitious ideas were never made known to his daughter, who he still secretly meets with to weasel his way back to the throne one way or another. 

Divided Wings is a passion project WOF AU following a whole new cast as none of the canon events of the books take place. If you wanna see more follow me or you can even join our discord!

Divided Wings is a WOF AU outside the canon where all the tribes of Phyrria are in a fragile but manageable peace with one another. A major law put into place to keep this peace was the outlaw of hybrids. The usual punishment for the crime is death. But a danger looms over as a hybrid animus plans to destroy the kingdoms should things not change. Only time can tell what will happen next.

This follows my Nightwing Future Seer Stargazer as she looks back on her past and her relationship with her father. A traitor animus who never seemed to show a speck of evil in her presence. Rumors in the kingdom debate if perhaps she was enchanted by him in some way, that's why she's grown to live so old and have such extraordinary future sight.

Old experiment and design plans for my sandwing princess's design for when she becomes queen.

Her crown was very fun to make but I know it is so insanely detailed but its my hands on the line not urs!

Im alive! Sorry for not posting much, its been a thing.

Enjoy this lore art that I was so proud of when I made it! This was my first attempt at a front view of a dragon. Pretty happy with it all things considered!

What's funny is that in Canon this dosent fully apply to all the animals as humans keep cows and horses(seen in dragon slayer)

But I love mentioning just how big things would be in comparison if everything actually was sized up.

In the AU I'm working on planet Phyrria is on is larger, has weaker gravity(similar ish to that of the moon???) And is populated by mega flora and mega fauna. How it's all sized up is we took the average man vs an animal then scaled it up to a sandwing. All the tribe's also have different sizes in this AU but what's important is sandwings and nightwings are basically the middle ground between the super large and super small dragons.

So things size up like this.

The funniest thing in WoF to me is how everything is sized up for dragons to use and whatnot. Of course it would be, given they're like 20 feet tall and such.

This makes it so that scavengers are incredibly tiny and small in comparison to literally everything else. Apples are almost as big as a person's head. This makes the sizing pretty funny to look at

Let us not forget the amount of charcaters who are far as we know straight due to their backfires.

Aka most the queens. Most have had children and had a mate at some point. Coral and Scarlet had husband's. Thorn is shipped with Smolder when she isnt shipped with Stonemover. Smolder canonically had a girl friend before had but Oasis made them break up. Oasis didn't pop 3 daughters and 2 sons out of nowhere.

Not to mention how much romance, mostly straight is prevalent within specific characters stories. Perils crush on Clay, starflights crush on Sunny, tusnami and Glorys sepreate cool bois they dont offically get with, Moons love triangle. Turtles crush on Kinkajou.

Then looking at the winglets we get more of Arctic and Foeslayers romance. Legends of Darkstalkers main premise is love(in some ways)! All the main pov charcaters are in straight relationships! Clearsight gets with a *male* beetlewing! Fathom is so head over heals in love with Indigo his sister tries to keep them separated to keep him from using magic.

Also I'm pretty sure of the couple of queer ships mentions I thought only 3 of those were offical Canon. If that dosent show how the lgbt+ characters and relationships aren't being "forced" idk what does.

I really wish this blog would say something against these weird comments or just not post what I feels obvious rage bait

Most of the lgbtq relationships in wof seem forced, or squished into the plot as a last resort to have some diversity in there.

And there aren't as many straight relationships as people think.
