Hate AI, but love writing challenges?
Want to take part in a global, fun project to write a Novella in one month?
Grab some friends, and take part in Novella November, by writing 1,000 words a day for the month of November, ending with a 30,000 word Novella to test and stretch your novel-writing skills!
Your goal is not perfection, but merely getting into the habit of writing a litte bit every single day :D
No website, no sign-ups -- Just a community initiative to write using only your own word!
What are the rules? Just Three so far!
#1 - No AI
#2 - No Plagiarizing
#3 - Wordcount for the month should only come from what you write during the month.
What does that mean?
Only words written during November should go towards your Wordcount for the month... but! Feel free to use your 30k words as a continuation of previous writing, or just make it the first 30k words in a longer novel!
Don't think you can write a whole entire 30k word story? Write a series of short stories that total up to 30k!
Not ready to write original works yet? Write a 30k word fanfiction that you can post after the month is over!
Share your writing experience, tips, encouragement, and questions in the #Novella November tag!

EDIT 2: I almost forgot to mention, if you are unable to write/type your story, you can also narrate/dictate your story to your preferred recording device!
If you're doing a Recording only and it doesn't automatically generate a transcript, it would obviously be hard to judge the word count -- but you're also working with a lot of obstacles, so I'd say if you're able to complete your story via voice recording from start to finish, you've definitely achieved the goal!
Edit #3: added the title "Novella November 2024 announcement post" to the top to make it more standard with my Ominous October and Drabble December posts (will be updating Outline October shortly) , added "Official Announcement Post 2024" to the tags so people can easily find the monthly events for 2024, and added a bit of bold to the third bullet point in the original post from September 2nd 2024 for emphasis.
@spiralwaves Progress update on the "In Imago Diaboli" fanbind!
After weeks struggling with the typeset (note to self: never think "ahh, this is going so easily!" during a creative project because. that's just asking for trouble 😅 ), I finally got it to print more-or-less nicely... ignoring the printer skew, lol. Ah well! We're out of the typesetting and into the fire, or something, heh.
Thing from one of my classes where we took a text and then reimagined it lmao. Brokeback mountain medieval au
Awww thank you, chasing-caws!

You are someone’s treasured mutual.
this time from the truth serum-drugged river fic im having fun with :)
“You’ve truly outdone yourself in idiocy this time, Cartwright,” said Lamb to a River that didn’t look quite as dead as he’d been expecting. In fact, the boy was almost concerningly un-bruised, considering his usual state of existence was that of a fruit dropped on its head one too many times, and if it weren’t for the hospital gown and the tender dark circles beneath his droopy eyes Lamb would have thought he had just woken up from an impromptu nap. “And not even a scar to show for it. Are you losing your singularly irritating touch?” River blinked at him in the manner of a particularly dopey puppy and didn’t respond. “Right,” said Lamb, somewhat disconcerted. “Well, you’ll forgive my disbelief that you managed to escape a kidnapping situation unscathed.” “S’not very nice,” said River at last. It was the first thing he’d said since Lamb had arrived, aside from the somewhat dazed and loopy ‘Laaaamb’ that had greeted him upon first entering through the door, only Lamb was doing his best to erase that moment from memory. It had made his chest go a bit too soft for comfort. “I can be… unscathed.”
Slow Horses, S02E02 - From Upshott with Love
This might be my favorite bind so far! Definitely my most ambitious. It's for the buddie fic "What's love got to do with it?" By ColorMeParanoid on AO3.
@color-me-paranoid If you see this I love this work so much. I stumbled upon it while doom-scrolling the buddie tag, binged it in like two days and was like whelp guess I've found my next big bind. I also included the other work in the series as an epilogue!
I'm so happy with the cover design. The lovely line art was made by @missmists. It looks so great and matches the inspo pics so much better than my original design. The cover is supposed to be reminiscent of the Tina Turner movie posters for "What's Love Got to Do With It?" I love that the hearts are the same shape as the lips in the original poster! That was such a cool idea!
I think the application of the vinyl gave me brain damage, I can not say this with enough vitriol, fuck Cricut brand vinyl, specifically the foil iron-on. If the heat is where the instructions say it should be it NEVER transfers, and if it's too high, the plastic leaves residue all over it and looks terrible (especially on white leather) I Had to entirely scrap the first try, wasting materials makes me want to die.
This is the first full-size bind I've done with faux leather, It was a learning process to get the heat press to not leave marks. But by the second try, I think I had it down.
This is the longest fic I've bound in a single volume, and I've been trying new techniques, and it resulted in the cleanest text block I've done so far. No swell at all! Look at her, ain't she pretty!
The next step is to go even bigger!
