Bucchigiri Episode Titles

Unless you're familiar with Japanese music I don't think you'd realize this so I thought I'd make a post about it.

All of the episode titles are references to the titles of songs. They mixed the names of love songs with Chinese food names.

Ep 1: 「合体！？恋するフォーチュンバンバンジー！」 Merge!? Fall in Love with Fortune Bang Bang Chicken!

Song: AKB48 - Koisuru Fortune Cookie Fall in love with a Fortune Cookie

Ep 2: 「君を乗せたい！チューチュー・チンジャオローストレイン！」 Wanna Take You On! The Chu Chu Chinese Pepper Steak Train!

Song: Exile - Choo Choo TRAIN

Ep 3: 「なぐり愛！世界に一つだけのウズラ」 Love at Fist Fight! The One and Only Quail in the World (The first part of the title is a play on words with 殴り合い(fist fight) but they replaced the second kanji with the kanji for love.)

Song: SMAP - Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana The one and only flower in the world

Ep 4: ストップ戦争(ウォー)！～時には食せよゴーヤチャンプルー～」 Stop the war! ~Sometimes You Gotta Eat Goya Chanpuru~

okay so i just finished watching the recap episode (pretty standard, nothing fancy) and THE END CARD??? "group date" so like a mixer, then? which is when a bunch of single people get together to form bonds, have drinks or food, play games, or get set up with a blind date. "the sea" BEACH EPISODE??? MAYBE??? they can expand on the lore too bc the city's waters were made from a crater from by senya and ichiya's fight. or maybe the sea is relevant in some other way to some characters? explore different character's dynamics? i don't mind a more light-hearted episode but bucchigiri, at least to me, is the type of show that doesn't waste any of its episodes or runtime to tell a story, so even if the episode is more laid back i think it'll still have some of the overarching plot there. also, we know majority of the cast is guys (exception: mahoro) and like. most of the gangs dont have girls (exception: NG boys but they're the enemy and defeated for now) so…. hmmmmm. most mixers are not that big (i think) unless it's a school-wide thing for the celebration of the NG boys being defeated? if it just involves the main cast hanging out then i can %100 smell some of those homoerotic undertones from here. bonus points if it is a beach episode or something of that variety. just some food for thought. speaking of food, croquettes!! yummy!! wonder if we'll see some more of mama tomoshibi's homecooked food or something else... the food shots are one of the highlights of every ep for me lol i love it when characters just chow down on yummy food

Siguma's name

I felt like the subs definitely didn't get the point of this across. They're leaving so much untranslated about the names of things lol...

The group that Marito took over used to be called Ikki （壱気）壱 means one (or single) and 気 can mean several things like spirit or mind etc. So the group members assumed Marito named the group Siguma by taking letters out of Single Mind

But what he really did was take the first letters from his ramen cup

Seafood Gratin Macaroni. He just took the first character from each word in Japanese.

The translation of Outa's line is just wrong. He doesn't say "Yeah, that's the one." He says "No, isn't it from this?"

I did find it interesting that while Arajin was laying on the ground and while watching Matakara, he got flashbacks to his childhood when little Matakara got beat up. I think seeing that alone made the guilt smack him back in the face.

But then he saw Mahoro in the same situation, and she stood her ground. He told her to run, because that's what Arajin did and thats what he wished little Matakara did, he didn't want to see her attacked the same way Matakara was.

But she didn't run. I guess seeing his crush stand so strong and brave finally made him not want to run away like he ran away from little Matakara. So instead he got up to defend her, because whether he realizes it or not, he now can defend people who are dear to him.

Now all that I need to see is him willing to defend Matakara, I feel like considering what happened during his childhood itd make sense for this to happen? But his confidence is still low, despite random outbursts of confidence (thanks to Senya)

I dont know much about Aladdin and the overall story, but I've seen people say that Arajin might lose his powers at one point. That would be interesting, since his confidence and strength in fighting came mostly because of Senya

My theory on how the next arc on BUCCHIGIRI?! would go down

Ok so since it was announced that next week’s episode would be postponed on the 2nd March (thankfully it seems like MAPPA is giving the animators and writers a break), I’m going to brainstorm on how it would go:

- Arajin slowly but surely is developing back into his old self but with much more confidence and vigour.

- Mitsukuni returning and there would be a reunion between the Asamine brothers.

- We have a limelight episode on the lesser known characters such as Jabashiri and Hagure.

- Zabu and Komao will get more focus in the next arc and probably have backstories.

- Mahoro, out of nowhere, asked Marito to train her. Marito would be hesitant at first because of the danger his sister would face but after some convincing from Outa, Marito would take up the offer but warns his sister that he won’t go easy on her.

- (Continued from above) Of course while this could be a front where Mahoro wants to be closer to her brother, she actually wants to be on his level and be just as strong as him (which would of course means that she would have a character arc)

- Arajin and Matakara rebuilding their friendship and having some ship subtext lol.

- New antagonist would be a corrupt political figure.

- Akutaro somehow returns and is now serving under the new antagonist to exact his revenge on Minato Kai, Siguma Squad and Arajin for foiling his plans.

okayy, i know everyone hates Arajin because he only fought for Mahoro, but why am i seeing, he is kinda not???

i know im just jokinh about how his type is definitely a cute and small person so he didnt really like Matakara but what if its true tho, he himself saw himself as a small and weak person so he has a soft spot when it comes to little Matakara because he is smaller than him

the reason why he didnt get up when matakara got beaten up was because he saw that Matakara was a big and though guy now so he didnt had the "thing" to protect him, BUT he had the flashback because he still Matakara after all. But when Mahoro was gonna getting crush, do you know what he is seeing? yes, the bully flashback again.

he didnt getting any of Mahoro flashback, he only get child Matakara flashback because Mahoro remind him of little Matakara so he has the urgue to protect her (so what im saying is, he kinda projecting his trauma of not able to protect Matakara through Mahoro who seems smaller than him) and after all today's bucchigiri episode was fire and even tho everyone had a cold feet towards arajin bcs he only fought to protect Mahoro, why not? he is protecting her because she reminds him of little Matakara anyway, and i got the goosebumps when Arajin got all the slice from akutaro (i just know the pain was real af) anyway, at the end im not dissapointed i hyped on bucchigiri since may 2023 and i cant wait to see another thing from this anime🔥🔥🔥

man i fucking LOVE how hard bucchigiri?! commits to arajin being a complete shit, it's so relatively rare for shows not to rush to redeem their asshole mcs which is, eh, fine but often uncompelling

like the most predictable way for this fight to have gone would have of course been for arajin to lose his will to fight (even to live, dramatic ass lmao) after being rejected by mahoro, and then rediscover that will when he sees matakara hurt, and realizes he doesn't want the past to repeat

would have been fine i guess but in all honesty ARAJIN HAS NOT EARNED THAT MOMENT. yes from the flashbacks he gets, and the timing of them, it's obvious a lot of his current complex has to do with him not being able to protect matakara in the past. he either doesn't want to be put in a situation where he has to protect someone again, where he can fail, or he can't forgive himself for the past (or both)

but he also is genuinely a gross horndog and it's seriously refreshing that the show has the balls to continue to let him be that. i feel like way too many series are so concerned* about making their protags likeable that they forget to let them be interesting, and forget that sometimes shitbags that are not at all likeable can be SO fun to watch (like arajin is)

anyway arajin is still The Worst and i'm so glad for that 🥰

*i guess in all fairness this isn't exactly an unwarranted concern bc so many viewers these days also fail to realize that a character that is not a likeable person is not necessarily a bad/uninteresting character lmao, it's like. a shame that shows have to walk on eggshells with these things but. for shows that want to be widely marketable. understandable i guess. it's just sometimes (many times, in fact almost all the time)... things that are widely marketable...... are worse.........

BUCCHIGIRI?! EP06: Much Much Friendship! Nira-Reba-lution 21!

Well To begin with I think it's important to not fight the silliness when watching Bucchigiri?! it's essential to enjoy this show i guess, cause if you try to find deep and clearly stated moral lesson in every detail of it, you will be just disappointed, especially while it's still airing, because that's like not the point These characters are not model heroes with high ideals and immense willpower, they're like the opposite, they're all silly and weird in their own ways, all with flaws (and yes, even Matakara, we're just not covering his problems yet) and their interactions are just as unhinged, which makes sense, and that's cool. It makes everything interesting because there's no clear moral compass to follow yet, and some stuff just happens, but that's the comedy of it, and beauty too. That feels fresh, and of course it's not for everyone, but fighting this show's intrinsic silliness and randomness just leads to less enjoyment from it all, and it's pointless. If you want to enjoy it embrace the silliness and watch it like a bunch of seagulls fighting with tourists for junk, or like bugs living their lives under the rocks, or something. It's an open end question and all the marks will be defined randomly in this media interpretation class, enjoy the liberating feeling of knowing that author probably wanted to tell you something but realizing you have literally no idea what it was or having all 100 ideas being somehow a valid answer. Or watch it any other way, but like, don't let predefined ideas of how things should be take away from your enjoyment.

(some) of my thoughts, rambles, and theories- bucchigiri?! ep 6

oh boy... that was a lot. an end to the gang war arc, and soon, the start to a new one. i want to start off by saying the animation was awesome this episode. all the action, emotional moments and small bits of comedy hit where they needed to.

i think it's interesting that it's not just that mahoro absolutely ROASTED akutaro, she also inspired arajin to kick his ass. NOT JUST because he has a crush on her, but because she refused to run, which is what arajin has been doing- it's a wake-up call for him to get some of his shit together.

it's also made blatantly clear that arajin does care about matakara.(the first person he sees when he gains consciousness is him getting fucking beat) hopefully next ep we get to see how their relationship develops from here. obviously they're not quite there yet, and i still think they're going to have a fight at some point- the next conflict focusing on matakara, and arajin showing us how much he's grown.

also, now that akutaro has been defeated, i wonder how ichiya will merge with matakara? how will matakara's conflict, brother, and ichiya and senya's past together play into this? will it be at the expense of matakara himself?

i also don't think this is the end of arajin's development, it's just the start. he'll always be a cringefail loser, but i think what ppl need to realize is that's okay. (his battle cry is still that he wants to lose his virginity, but that's not all there is to him! he beats up akutaro regardless.) he can be a loser and have development. he's not just one or the other, just like the rest of the characters in the show. they can be silly, beat people to a pulp AND have their own emotional moments. the show so far allows all of it, i think that's what makes it so great.

i can't wait to see where the show goes next!!

there's that loyalty/devotion from outa but also this deep and instant understanding from marito that i'm gonna be chewing on forever. first it shows marito isn't just dumb as shit (and i love me a guy who's dumb as shit, but also love a guy who understands their people, Their Person)

like there's no doubt whatsoever in marito's mind that outa did this for him, he just Gets It, because he Gets outa, and that paints it as a two-way street for me. i'm so on board. choo choo fucking ka choo or whatever sound ships make (that's a train)

Rambles underneath

Ok first things first i gotta get it off my chest but I s2g one thing I hate the most is when male characters spend days, months, years chasing after a girl that doesn't like them, only for the girl to eventually be like "yk what you're not that bad, you changed now" so they start dating. And this-

-THIS small scene reminds me of that. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up together after this scene idk. Side note, I liked Mahoro this episode idc 👑

Next thing... Get someone who can support and adore you the same way Matakara adores Arajin because dude?!?!

Also I'm glad i was right about this part lol. He doesn't view them all as friends. Hopefully that will change
