Vaccinated 90+ calves and their mamas today in Frio County. This is our injections setup. Thanks goes to our dad for the old dishwasher basket. The Multimin is hanging on the other side of the chute. It was a perfect day cooler than 60 degrees. Mar. 2020
Broomweed is beautiful in south Texas!
It dry folks. 9/2019
Yep
Days gone by! Drank a few sodas here back in the day.
The Butcherbird strikes again! These hunter birds are fascinating to me. South Texas is a major flyway for a number of northern birds. Most Loggerhead Strike spend the summer in the far North nesting and growing strong for their Autumn voyage south to Texas. This bird is still here or already here. I've not seen it but here is the evidence. 8/9/19
A Texas toad hiding under the cattle guard. South Texas is home to critters!
Too powerful not to repost. God Bless Our Veterans.
The fighting doesn’t just end after they come home.

Damn straight folks. Forgive now.
A410 chillin' in the brush! He's serviced all the girls and needs to relax. 1 of 6 bulls on the home place breeding 120 cows. 7/2019 in south Texas.
Its so beautiful on the ranch where I live and work! Love south Texas!
You know you're at a country church when you see this!! God bless Cowboys and Country folk! My small town church is awesome!
Major Alaa Waheeb, the IDF’s most decorated Muslim soldier who received the Minister of Defense’s Medal of Excellence - “To those who say that Israel is an apartheid state, I ask: Do you think that such a country would tolerate a person like myself getting to the position I am today?… a non-Jewish army Major? Someone who has not only fought alongside Jewish soldiers, but now trains them too? Would a truly racist state allow me to play such an integral role in our nation’s defenses? I do not serve in the army to kill people – I serve in it to save people. When Hamas fires rockets, or Fatah encourages stabbings, we are here to protect the lives of all Israeli citizens, Jewish and non-Jewish… In my role as a soldier, I have met all kinds of people both in Israel and the Palestinian territories. Jews, Arabs, Religious, secular, left-wing and right-wing… forget slogans and shouting. Peace – real peace – will only come when people talk to each other.”

A Butcherbird aka Loggerhead Shrike captured and stored this moth on a barb for the future!
Close up of a gopher snake I found near the shed! Little longer than 5 feet. It caused me to pause just a minute! 4/29/19
December hunting brings April fried venison!! Woot woot! Dang I love this stuff!! Blessed beyond measure!
Amen!
The prickly pear is blooming in South Texas! Red is not very common. Love it here!
The boss lady leading 2 nurse cows and 6 orphans with feed! Beautiful day!
What I admire about the Russians is their pride in being Russian and their respect for their homeland.
When Russians get tipsy they say “У меня вертолёты.” Lit. “I have the helicopters.”
There are two kinds of envy in Russian. “белая зависть” or “white envy” which is the good kind, where ultimately you are genuinely happy for the person and their good fortune. I think you can guess the other kind.
Russian’s terms of endearment are the best. “Солнышко” lit. “my small sun” and “Дорогуша” meaning “dearie” are among my favorites
Your first semester as a uni student is called “Боевое крещение” lit. “baptism by fire.”
When a Russian person feels like you are pulling their leg, they might say “Не надо мне лапшу на уши вешать” which means “don’t try to play me.” The literal translation? “Don’t hang noodles on my ears”
Russian people like to show their love for something by using diminutives, so phrases like “Буду кусочек этого тортика” lit. “I’ll have a teeny tiny piece of that cakey” and “Мне очень понравился этот супчик” lit. “I really liked that soupy-soup” are a common thing. My favorite diminutive, though? It’s “cпасибочки!” which literally means “Thankie!”
Mistakes happen. This girl was bred a bit young and we kept an eye on her til she dropped a calf with no birthing problems. I'm proud of her. 3/5/19
“Sustain me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.”

End of a long day. Relaxing watching heifers and their first calves. I am blessed. Pulled 3 calves this season. 1 dead curly leg and breach, 1 dead breach, 1 alive and doing well! 3 sets of twins with 2 now on nurse cows while the third is a sneak thief stealing from the mama cows until we can catch it! Life has a rhythm here that city folks kinda miss. 2/19/19
Milk Thistle. Beautiful really. Not so good for grazing fields. Its seed supposedly cleanses the liver and contains antioxidants of some kind. It can be steamed and eaten as a green from what I hear.
A new nurse! The sweet heart is half Holstein and half Jersey and 6 years old. It took her a day or two but she accept her first charge. These Angus have twins with some regularity so a nurse cow is a good thing! Two nurse cows with 3 'kicked off' calves so far. 012919
