I Honestly Feel Like It's A Shame That Artificer's Backstory Was Told Through Gameplay Cutscenes Rather

i honestly feel like it's a shame that Artificer's backstory was told through gameplay cutscenes rather than artwork. i mean the gameplay scenes weren't bad or anything, but the intro cutscene and dream sequences that Survivor/Monk got had such pretty art and were really impactful! so i tried to do it myself :D

(i wish every slugcat got illustrated dreams - imagine if we got to see Hunter and Spearmaster have dreams about NSH and Suns. or if we got to see Rivulet's dreams where they're just swimming or eating bubble fruit XD. and Saint could have lore cool lore stuff! it could really help characterize each scug)

My take on Artificer's pups! The first version is with colors that are color-picked from the game and the second is my personal take on their colors

Additional thoughts below:

The Radiant

Scar that matches Artificer's

Version 2's colors is supposed to make them look kinda like Artificer, but blue. Their eyes are white in this one to match Arti !

I imagine them having electric abilities - hence the electric spear

They can turn spears into electric spears and rocks into an item that works like a jellyfish (electrocutes creature when thrown)

I gave them pointy triangular shapes to show the electric motif, and to contrast their sibling

The Bombshell

i jus wanted them to be fluffy

I wanted to give them scars from the leech bites on their back but I wanted to keep the designs as simple as possible and leech bites have this weird "Y" shape thing and i couldn't figure out how to stylize it in a way that looked good so i gave up ;-;

They have explosive abilities, but they kinda differ from Artificer

Imagine Gourmand's body slam mechanic, except you explode on impact. So like when Bombshell falls onto a lizard they create an explosion (kinda like Artificer's concussive blast) that depends on the height they fell. Similar thing with rolls and slides

Cannot craft explosives

Rounder shapes to contrast Radiant

Other thoughts

Gave them both boom marks to give them a matching shape motif

I really want to see more Arti's pups headcanons please-
