You know what's so bitter about Yoohyun leaving Yoojin in order to protect him? The fact that he never really understood the social implications of it.
We know that Han Yoohyun doesn't care for social cues, laws and regulations, all mannerisms and behaviour towards people are done simply to please his brother. And so- he doesn't realise that by denouncing Yoojin, as a highly praised and popular S-class, he has condemned him in society. Yoohyun leaves as soon as he can, publicly announces that he's a burden, and the media is having a field day where Yoojin is made a villain.
Unfortunately, it's only made worse by Yoojin's lost desperation to find out why his brother, his child, who he has raised all his life has left him behind. Has spit in his face and is so cold, and that maybe Yoojin has failed him all this time. His desperation in trying to get to talk to Yoohyun at least once, to give him a birthday cake, to awaken so that maybe he can reach him. It only ends up adding to this manic, ungrateful and spiteful image that the world views him as.
Yoojin is condemned by society. Yoohyun gets mad that he's a hunter but Yoojin has no other option. He can't get a regular job because his reputation has been dragged through the mud and because the constant public attention is too burdensome for any employers. Seok Simyeong has constantly berated Yoojin, fucking up his mental state and as the 'spokesperson' of Yoohyun, Yoojin must think its true.
Yoohyun tries to protect him from hunters through this instinctual thought of predators and prey, but society is far too nuanced and he doesn't understand. By trying to leave him out of the dungeons, he left him to the world.
Oh Han Yoohyun, you've doomed him.
not even just that, i'm in the 400ish chapters and han yoojin deadass tripped bc the building was shaking while checking on song tae won who was taking a bath?? butt naked??? and bro deadass gets up from the tub??? butt naked??? to steady him???? and proceeds to use his body to shield him from the shaking building???? this was described as 'almost as if in a hug' btw??????
It probably sounds like a joke or an exaggeration when fans of The S-classes that I Raised talk about how homoerotic this non BL novel is, but reading this book is wild sometimes. Yeah the main character can't go more than like two chapters without emphasizing how hot the men in his life are, but also some of these characters will have the most intense yandere thoughts about about him. The guy who the main character considers the peak of male perfection deadass thinks to himself "Even if Han Yoojin were collapsed completely, the process of pulling him together and setting him back on his feet would certainly be enjoyable" like he's the black bellied CEO male lead of an imprisonment manhwa
the way you can notice yoojin's preferences over time for example how he clearly likes cafe latte but he probably doesn't know it himself bc his entire life revolved around yoohyun, he probably never gave his own likes much thought but hyunjae noticed. inhales. HE NOTICED AND HE NOTICES ALL THE SMALL THINGS AND MAKES SURE TO CARE FOR YJ AND PUT HIM FIRST BC HE HIMSELF WILL NEVER DO SO ESP WHEN YOOHYUN IS INVOLVED (RE- JAPAN DUNGEON)
no offence but if i was yoojin (with his 87 complexes) i would have actually killed myself after that . what the fuck yoohyun đź’€
LMAOOO did Moon Hyuna and Sung Hyunjae just imply that they’d have a threesome with Song Taewon…and he’s just there like
So I'm rereading sctir after dropping the novel around ch.320 a while back. During that time, I read into personality typing, which had already fascinated me. I even did an analysis of Yoojin and Sung Hyunjae's relationship in 2024 (read here) based on the enneagram.
I got Hyunjae spot on. He's so perfectly enneagram type 7 it feels stereotypical. But, I won't lie, my Yoojin analysis was iffy... so I'm striking it from the record! If you read that, no you didn't.
I'm more familiar with the enneagram now, and I already have new thoughts after ch.2 of the webtoon lmao
I may write a revised Yoojin analysis... we'll see.
Just created a public My S-Class Hunters community! I was shocked by the fact that I didn't see a single community already when I searched for one, so I took it into my own hands lmao
Please join if you’re interested! 🫶💕
just wanted to add my 2 cents! i like the point you made here.
I haven’t finished any of these stories yet, but I think what could play into this is the fact that TCF’s mc and ORV’s mc are interacting with world’s, situations, & people that they understood as fictional, at first (ORV a little less than TCF, but still).
for Yoojin, his post-regression reality has always been very real to him. there is no “plot” or storyline to follow — it’s his life relived immediately after experiencing traumatic loss, so he truly sees this life as his “second chance” to keep all that tragedy from happening again. there’s no degree of detachment or separation for him.
& that detachment is a specific point of internal conflict for sb like Kim Dokja — his ability as a “reader”, the Fourth Wall, is what allows him to detach himself from the emotional stress of any given situation. he can continue to be the “omniscient” observer, can continue to understand ppl through characterization and read their thoughts as if they were still on the page; then, he can act on that info w/o becoming emotionally vulnerable.
& i think this is somewhat proven when ORV veers into things that happened in Dokja’s life before TWSA began. anything dealing with his mother throws him off kilter — i think he still manages to keep his cool, but there’s a notable difference in the way he deals with situations involving her vs. situations he expects from TWSA’s plot.
I haven’t read as much of TCF so I can’t say quite as much! but there’s still a jarring difference between reliving your own life and living the life of an aristocrat in a fictional world you read about.
The S-Classes that I Raised often gets grouped with Omniscent Reader's Viewpoint and Trash of the Count's Family, but there's something distinctly different about Han Yoojin as a protagonist. I think it's that his story really makes you feel how much of a fighter he is. I'm not saying that Kim Dokja and Kim Roksoo aren't fighters exactly, but they tend to come off as schemers first and foremost. Their approach to most problems (from my perspective as someone who's read all of ORV and like a third of TCF) involves leveraging secrets of the world that only they know in order to get the better of their adversaries and achieve their goals. They plan things out a long time in advance, and sure, things don't always go their way, but they feel like chess players when they're confronted with obstacles.
Meanwhile, Han Yoojin feels like a guerilla soldier. He definitely also schemes, but SCTIR makes a dedicated effort to showing that his current knowledge of the future and the world's secrets will only take him so far. He does think ahead and plans for the future whenever he can, but most of his problems are solved by improvising. One of his greatest strengths is that he thinks on his feet and doesn't let himself be fazed by surprises. This ends up making him feel more like someone who has always had to fight desperately for every last scrap of respect and survival he could get his hands on in a way that ORV and TCF don't go for as much (as far as I can tell for TCF as of now). Kim Dokja and Kim Roksoo's plans go "first, I'm going to go to the super secret location to get a weapon that will help me in six months, and then in five weeks, I'm going to recruit an obscure powerhouse to be my spy for the operation I'll do next year..." whereas Han Yoojin's plans are more like "first, I'll get into some shit, and then, I'll figure it out."
It's kind of hard to explain the vibe difference because these characters are all defined by their cleverness, but I guess the best way to put it would be that Kim Dokja and Kim Roksoo seem more... exasperated? with the way they've been wronged in the past, whereas Han Yoojin seems more angry and spiteful about it. The first two mostly seem tired of dealing with the way their lives were going before and just want to be happy, but Han Yoojin gives off the feeling that he doesn't think he can find happiness without biting and clawing his way to it
Spoilers up to chap 303 of tsctir
When you're on your Enneagram bs & realize that Sung Hyunjae is self-pres/sexual 7 & Han Yoojin is self-pres/sexual 2.
...the fact that they both prioritize self-pres instinct while wielding the sexual instinct second would explain some of the odd chemistry in their semi-transactional relationship. They both are, or at least were, using their growing connection with the other as a tool to satisfy their own needs, and both of them see this as reasonable and fair because they know the other is doing the same thing.
Hyunjae only rejects the chemistry between them when his dominant instinct is threatened... needing to risk his arm to help everyone get out of the Japanese dungeon bcuz of whatever funky stuff Yoojin's got going on. He literally says to Song Taewon, after running away from Yoojin, in ch.296:
“No matter how much I like him, I come first. He’s mine to the end, and while he’s something I treasure, the one I value is myself.”
No wonder dude spirals out of control until he's literally contemplating wiping Yoojin off the face of the planet. he's a pleasure-seeking sp7 that ensures the satisfaction of his needs by building interpersonal alliances, & the passionate, dreamy energy of his sx7 instinct serves that end. if the focus of his current passion is abt to risk his survival, if he's gonna have to start making actual sacrifices, then it makes sense that he'd think abt cutting his losses. but... he doesn't want to kill him. cuz he liiiikes him. so he just ghosts him lol
& Yoojin's reaction to it is so freaking funny dude. he's like a crazy ex Hyunjae broke up with over text. & that makes sense, too, bcuz he's beginning to actually care about Sung Hyunjae in a non-transactional way, so Hyunjae just up and ghosting has to absolutely trigger the 2's fear of being unloved and abandoned, like it did when he thought Yoohyun abandoned him pre-regression. and because 2's are hiding insecurity and entitlement for love & attention behind a veneer of altruism, which wells into anger & resentment if they don't get the love that they're due, Yoojin literally threatens to blow up his house if he doesn't respond to him. and does, like, a 24 hour death countdown before barging into Sung Hyunjae's house when he STILL hadn't responded to his texts lololol
bro described the S Classes that I Raised Sung Hyunjae/Han Yoojin and thought I wouldn't notice
a collection
who are all these bilingual assholes reading 500 chapters into S Classes that I Raised when I can't find a single translation past chapter 218
it makes the agony of getting spoiled like 10 times worse bcuz i cant read what you're talking about even if i wanted to, don't rub it in bfore i cry (ToT)
i think it's about time i release those into the wild
my duty is to spread prereg hjyj agenda o7
bonus: hyj felt guilty for lashing out on shj (who, by the way, is all for it)
okay listen I think it would be the funniest of Han Yoojin’s reaction to Yoohyun leaving would’ve been getting his high school degree and speed running law school so he can specifically get himself into a position where Yoohyun can’t avoid him. he has the weirdest relationship with haeyeon as a guild, somewhere between “this guy is obviously favoring them” and “they’ve had to resubmitted their taxes like 5 times because he keeps denying them because of typos”
and he can’t be blackmailed out of the position because Han Yoojin being who he is, the other S-Classes would find him fucking hilarious. His superior get advised to fire him, 10 minutes later gets a call from Sung Hyunjae like “why isn’t my favorite government official breathing down my neck about tax evasion :/“
