Hey y’all! Myself and my friend noticed there was a big hole in the TSC fandom - namely, that there isn’t a Discord server for us all to come together and appreciate/freak out over our favourite Shadowhunters.
So we decided to fix it! Here is your official notice of the creation of The Downworld, a place for us to talk theories, go crazy over our beloved ships, worship those characters that maybe don’t get enough love fandom-wide, and of course, appreciate the absolute genius that is Cassandra Clare.
All we ask is that you be kind and respectful to each other, and agree to our server rules that’ll you see when you join. The server is also 18+ only, so unfortunately we won’t be able to allow minors to join.

There is one random thought that just hasn’t left my mind since we discovered that Kit still dreams about Ty.
The last scene that Kit narrates in QoAaD where he is looking down at Ty and he says how he was away from all the noise, and the he said he hated himself in that moment because he wanted to go down there and protect Ty from all the noise. And I KNOW I just KNOW that he’s had at least ONE dream in which he went against his better judgement and instead of leaving with Jem and Tessa, he went down there with Ty.

Okay, I’m just ridiculously curious about if/how you’re going to portray Lucifer in the upcoming TSC books, and I’m wondering if you can give us any info, snippets, anything about him and/or the other Princes of Hell. It’s probably too spoilery, and probably too early, for much of anything, but I’m really fascinated with how you’ve incorporated the Princes of Hell into the TSC world, as well as the other dimensions. I’d just love to know more. Thank you! Hope you’re doing well! ♥️
Hmmm. I don't think I can say specifically, but I can say that TWP is something of a return to the biblical/demonic mythos of The Mortal Instruments. A lot of what happens turns on various pieces of biblical mythology (since we're dealing with Lucifer!) and references to Paradise Lost/Dante.

random thought I had the other day but never shared but. Ty lowkey parallels King David. I was thinking about QOAAD & the Battle on the Imperishable Fields, and how it's kinda weird Ty is mentioned multiple times to be using slingshot because that's not a typical shadowhunter weapon we see. then it occurred to me that literally a battle where giants show up and Ty helps "slay" them so to speak. like David & Goliath, which is also previously mentioned in QOAAD by Emma
where Julian's words are equated to David's stones. and by the way, David is said to have five stone and who's the fifth Blackthorn to try & speak to Julian & Emma? Ty. and this is what happens when he does.
not only that but King David of David & Goliath fame is also the David of (biblical) David & Jonathan fame, which the parabatai law draws inspiration from. aka the thing actively going wrong at that very moment. Biblical Jonathan also dies btw. and you wanna know what the icing on the the cake is? David's dad's name is Jesse.
theres no way this isn't a purposeful reference but I have no idea if it's like. just CC having fun or something that had Implications. food for thought.

Kit gives Jessa a heart attack (this ones a given)
kitty horrendously, hopelessly, completely and utterly fail to communicate for majority of the first book

Lucifer somehow possesses Ty (honestly considering the dream this seems more and more likely...)
In relation to that, maybe ty reviving (reghosting?? re-kinda-viving?) livvy opened up a way for lucifer to enter their world, or possess ty? maybe it left him 'unprotected', maybe it made a tear in the divide between worlds, smth like that (based on this)
Too many serious ones, time for some sillies: clace and/or sizzy wedding (this ones more 'light-hearted' than 'silly', but eh)

magnus is also done w the sh's bs, like he is in every book, and like in every book he contradicts his most recent claim that he will not deal with whatevers next and helps. and then says again that hell leave them to deal with whatevers next themselves. which he will definitely not do.

being a fan of a normal author who is not Cassandra Clare must be so boring. like you follow their insta where they post the singular commission of their main characters they made as promo for a book that comes out in a month. you hear down the grapevine that they teased a new book at an event so you know to look out for it to preorder. after finishing a trilogy you hope that maybe they will write a short story follow up or have them briefly appear in a future spin off. and then you move on with your life and pick up the next book. it's like a different world.

everyone panicking over Cassandra Clare saying a character we met in the first three tmi books will die in the first twp book 😭 which is understandable but I felt like we should keep in mind the book is literally called The Last King of Faerie and we first were introduced to the Seelie Queen in City of Ashes.... like shes kinda doomed it has to be her I fear

the way time works in Faerie always does my head in like wdym sometimes it goes faster than the outside world and sometimes it goes slower.... like huh 😭
however I have always wondered if you could use Faerie to time travel. like you lowkey can time travel into the future if time is moving quickly, is it possible to also go back in time?? you would need to know what your doing/be powerful enough to manipulate it right but like.... is that a thing you could theoretically do
yk ive seen lots of jokes abt how kit would describe ty as beautiful, (mentally) write flippin poetry about how he looks, assist in necromancy for him, and yet still think theyre just good friends. which i love, its hilarious, BUT.
im p sure he Knows™. like, he vaguely refers to his feelings not being fully platonic throughout qoaad. most notably, when he thinks abt the reasons why he no longer thinks abt being parabatai w ty, and at the end hes like, "maybe it was something else, but he pushed away from the thought"

i have returned after spending the past like... 2 days reading qoaad whenever i had free time? which was, unfortunately, not a lot, so i took a while
so, basically, ive finished the whole of qoaad in two days, and now have nothing to read bc the wait time for sword catcher on my library's libby app is 6 weeks
but regardless, i will never be the same again. qoaad has changed me, yall. i dont think i will ever recover from kitty. i wait even more impatiently now for twp
also, ive almost read every book in the series (that isnt a kickstarter)! now ive just gotta read notable shadowhunters & denizens of the underworld (not the updated one bc, again, i dont have any of the kickstarter books. sob 😭.)
