Would everything change if ventus was able to feel vanitas emotions as vanitas feel ventus emotions?

I feel like I can't-- answer this without spoiling anything SO UH

First and foremost the definitive canon answer to this for me is Ash & Dust so if you want to see that absolute role reversal in play my friend my pal anyone reading this I know the cannibalism tag might be a little scary I know the dead dove is ensuring you are set up understanding that tag is real and serious and it is it sure is but let this fanfic change your life it changed mine.

There is a reason you'll see a comment from me on every chapter that might as well be an essay Ini and I became friends BECAUSE we were writing at the same time not because we were friends first and stubbornly insisted on being that one reviewer for each other.

Secondly I will be starting a new fic called Time Will Tell (or, at least, these pages will), which again...will be touching on this. Which means, for the time being, I am keeping my opinions on what it would mean for Ven to feel Vanitas like Vanitas feels Ven...close to my chest. c:

This probably one of most common idea , but what if sora 10 years ago in bbs did remember saving ven and was able to talk to him?

And put some extra spice vanitas is there too.

One day I actually might write this concept because I am actually in love with it. I love Ven and Vanitas slowly working out their issues while in Sora's Heart because they're kind of forced into this space where they have to. I love the idea of them getting to be there for Sora since day dot.

And you know Ven would love him, adore him. He'd be the comforting whisper in Sora's ear and the encouragement when he's a little scared, the voice that laughs with him when he's happy. When the breeze picks up (and it's an archipelago, there's always wind) it feels like fingers ruffling Sora's hair, it feels like comfortable hugs. It feels like someone seeing all of him, and loving him desperately for it.

Vanitas would...take a while. It is Vanitas. Ven's there from the start, Vanitas probably doesn't provide anything but bullying and taunts until Sora's about 7-8 years old. But he'd share some of the ways to turn that fear into anger and strength, show him how to stand up against people who are bigger than him, how to protect; himself first, but others, if he must. He'd be the hovering shadow, the reason Sora stops being scared of the dark.

I'm always torn on whether or not they'd teach him anything about Keyblades, but I feel like they'd both be keen to teach him magic if they can. Teach him self defence. While he's still young Ven probably makes creative little games out of it that Riku joins in on, then as Sora gets older and him having "imaginary friends" stops being so cool, that's when Ven gets to treat it as a game for just the two of them.

Vanitas wouldn't even treat it as a game he'd either be like "you're learning self defence" or "hey Sora want to shoot a fireball out of your hand" and Sora would be there like, instantly. So excited to learn every possible thing and spend time with the two voices that have explained to him over and over (with varying degrees of patience) that they aren't in his head, they're in his Heart.

I could keep going this would rewrite the course of the canon as we know it, the moment Sora gets a Keyblade Vanitas and Ventus would be positively feral about it. But.

We'll save that for another day. <3

There's this one ongoing series that I've been following for a while which is essentially just the basis of this and just, hnrrgh. I love Ven and Vanitas getting very protective of the other Heart Hotels, angry for them, teaching them. There's something to be said about them being the ones who Came Before and had the universe dropped on their shoulders, and when that universe comes for the child who saved them they pull out a fucking gun.

Honestly there's an AU I have tucked away to potentially write one day that is actively about Ven and Vanitas just sitting there with their mouths open as they witness Sora's entire journey and when Ven wakes up, they just. Forge the X-blade. Immediately. Go scorched earth on everything. For Sora, and Roxas, and Xion.

True but Vanitas is also negative right?which from what I’ve remember is connected by entirely a separate thing from darkness ( i mean why unversed eyes are red not yellow like the heartless if he was pure darkness) so him having red eyes because he is also negativity, also makes sense but also he could have central heterochromia meaning he could have golden yet little red around his pupils or the other way round ( heck that what I was thinking sometime when mentally designing my Avatar but probably take years before I explain more on that because that changed completely) anyway I’m ramble pretty long enough about it, Vanitas having red eyes because is someway to connect himself with his unversed. I love Vanitas with red eyes as much as Ventus having green eyes.❤️❤️❤️❤️

*leans in close to the mic* Vanitas does not have Xehanort’s eyes. Exposure to darkness causes eyes to turn golden. Xehanort’s eyes were originally silver, as seen in dark road. As a being of pure darkness, Vanitas is the one character where his eyes were probably yellow from the beginning (excluding the LN of course).

sighs dreamily thinking about the idea of ven’s darkness having at least partially told the truth about his will. sighs dreamily thinking about the recurring theme of ‘my friends are my power’ juxtaposed with ‘what he wished for was power’ (he actually wished for friends) (and being a union leader got him friends) (plus like. it got him to survive the fall of daybreak town). sighs dreamily thinking about them having some sort of symbiosis even before it later became truly part of him and a human with a heart (vanitas). sighs dreamily thinking about it doing what it did out of love for him or at least darkness’ twisted understanding of love. yayyy 🌸🌸🌸

I just go all soft and warm when there a kingdom hearts AU with venvan while sora being cared for as a little brother both in and out his heart.❤️

And putting soroku in the mix makes it more amazing.❤️❤️❤️❤️

I know union cross makes a lot of sense in the kh lore (especially in ddd) but the fact that ventus was a person of pure light in the first place? And vanitas is not actually the darkness half of ventus? It’s just wrong?, meh? I can’t explain what I feel about that.

After making a 10 minute ethnographic documentary on the “cropped mgs meme” for an anthropology course I kinda fell in love with them and wanted to make Kingdom Hearts versions

au of the au in this post, the wayward void part i mean (twitter ver with more details);

so when xehanort split ventus, what if he wasn't able to physically split him, only his heart becoming two while his body is (debatably) fine. xehanort still names vanitas after he realizes what happened though.

visually, their heart would now look like a combination of this post and the example in this post, as the now split ventus would be able to summon unversed just like in the original au, which i don't think i've ever actually mentioned it before anywhere oops.

what happens after that, i'm not sure. it would probably lead to similar circumstances of my darkness awakened ventus au which is probably my most fleshed out au. hell i could probably just integrate it as the beginning of that au, though it already has a proper-ish beginning... hmm... i dunno it feels like too much

(that au ventus uses darkness to save himself from the neo shadows and is therefore never dropped off at eraqus')

i like to imagine that by the time of kh4, ventus and roxas are friends. at first they're probably awkward around each other, but then they become best buddies and make it everyones problem.

one scenario i have thought up is of them using the fact they're pretty much identical to troll people by pretending to be the other. but aqua and terra figure it out and instead of being annoyed, they team up with roxas to bully ven

this ones name is Lone Dark, and it's also made for a fanfic of an au i have of baldr being sent to quadratum and becoming friends with strelitzia (and eventually sora), getting to start a new life free from the battles of light and darkness and heal
