Honestly, good for them
I’m working on my facial expressions….to varying degrees of success
i updated it due to current happenings
edit: FUCKING REBLOG IT. LIKES DONT MEAN SHIT!
"genre-savvy" no i want a genre-unsavvy protagonist. scratch that, i want a genre-deluded protagonist.
i want a protagonist who is convinced until the last possible moment that they're in a lighthearted romcom--despite the proliferation of slasher murders. give me a soccer dad who is just so determined to enjoy family vacation, despite the fact the kids summoned an eldritch deity from the lake. a preteen who is experiencing a coming-of-age saga and annoyed their parents aren't emotionally present (the parents are distracted by a literal zombie apocalypse). endless possibilities
this has got to be the funniest video on the whole jet thing asdfghjkl
So you guys know how the Jedi Order is filled with people from pretty much every world and species? Think about all the unique cultural things the Jedi would practice simply because the Order is basically a giant melting pot.
A Kalikori made out of Akul teeth, passed down through a lineage and carved in multiple different styles to represent the cultures of each of the lineage members.
Different Jedi taking inspiration for their cultural face tattoos from their Togruta master's lekku or their friends' facial tattoos or the designs on a Council member's cultural headdress.
Recipes that are fusion foods made of like five different cultural dishes because a group of friends all got drunk together, got the munchies, and fucked around in the kitchen until something tasted good.
Like, just everyone sharing their cultures with each other and then people adapting their cultures based on their lineages and the shared culture in the Order, shared culture being a form of expressing love and adopting someone into the Order/a lineage.
Obviously there would be things that are off limits and permission would have to be given and the Jedi would probably emphasize learning the culture before ever adapting it, but I just think that after thousands of years their would be a lot of shared culture among the Jedi.
Oh, and languages! With how many languages are probably spoken in the Order, I wouldn't be surprised if the Jedi basically spoke bastardized versions of every language mashed together---it'd probably be an always moving/changing/evolving thing that no one but the Jedi can understand because the Jedi use the Force to bridge any gaps there might be in someone's understanding.
A lot of words and phrases would be taken from Dai Bendu, just because it's my personal headcanon that the Jedi still speak it, but then it would branch out from there into Twi'leki and Togruti and Durese and everything else all mixed together.
I just...I love the idea of the Jedi having a mixed culture that reflects the diversity of the Order.

The other crazy thing about obidala is how much more oedipal it makes Anakin.
Anakin's resentment towards Obi-Wan is already insane. The way he makes everything that's wrong Obi-Wan's fault is truly unhinged. I'm thinking of AotC and how Anakin brings Obi-Wan into his rant after he massacres the Tuskens and yells about how Obi-Wan is "jealous" of him. It is so unhinged really and truly. I love it, there's no actual logic to it, but there's an emotional logic. Like yeah, I can actually imagine a guy acting this way.
Anakin has this father figure who seems so perfect and everyone loves him, and Anakin can never measure up, so the father figure becomes an obstacle that has to be overcome. He's already a father-rival.
Padme's relationship with Anakin, meanwhile, already leans maternal. She looked out for him in TPM. There's the way she comforted him in AotC. RotS parallels Padme and Shmi, "I won't lose you the way I lost my mother." They are both these madonna-like figures Anakin is trying desperately to save.
So, Anakin already had issues. Add on top of that the idea that Obi-Wan and Padme had a relationship, or that Anakin at least thinks they did, and it makes this oedipus thing even more explicit. In Anakin's mind Obi-Wan and Padme are together as a mother and father, and he has to kill Obi-Wan to take his place.
I honestly think it's amazing that a blockbuster movie did this. I love Anakin's psychology so much. He's such a mess.
Happy Black History Month, Star Wars homies!

Edit: Yes, the original Sokka sexism arc is great and important. But we don't live in a world where the live action show runners decided to include it in the same form. So:
Unpopular opinion time: Sokka unlearning sexism isn't actually a large part of his character arc--it literally only takes the opening episodes. And removing it COULD be a sign that the live action is taking seriously the complaints I've seen from native fans about the original show runners deciding to make the Water Tribes that sort of sexist to begin with. Sokka's actual character arc is about gaining confidence and leadership skills, and they have the opportunity to focus on that MORE if they change the Kyoshi episode to focus on Suki as a fellow teenager forced into a leadership/protective role in her community and rocking it rather than using her as an object lesson on sexism for a male character to learn from. Whether they will ACTUALLY do that is on them, but it took me less than ten minutes to think up, so I sure hope someone in the writers' room actually cares about using the live action to expand on new angles of the characters. Big ask, I know.
Now the real question is: did they also remove Uncle Iroh's unwanted physical advances on a literally paralyzed Jun, and all of Zuko's snipes about girls? Because THOSE are the actually "iffy" sexism parts in AtLA, not Sokka's five minute arc.
“Hey Ben who’s that in the picture with you?”

I’m not super fond of the way vampires turn pale no matter their skin tone so here’s a proposal:
Colder tones!!!
This was loosely based off livor mortis which is the bluish-purple discoloration of the skin of dead bodies. It’s a result of the gravitation of blood but fuck that vamps are purple now
This timeline is only about the MCU not the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse (MCM), so it doesn’t contain any of the movies outside the MCU.
Also I consider all these shows above as canon in the MCU but I won’t consider canon Inhumans or Team Thor (although you should see the videos of Team Thor ‘cause they are amazing). Last thing that I want to clarify, I don’t care what the Timeline of Disney+ says about some placements of some movies/shows or the book that was released
Edit: If you wanna know more about specific dates or things about the MCU Chronological Order, I recommend the channel Geekritique on Youtube ‘cause his videos are amazing and really helpfull to understand the wider MCU!
So, who was gonna tell me that ‘No Nightingales’ is a book about two ghosts preventing a war from happening, then being in a love-hate relationship and not talking to each other for 66 years in a house on Berkeley Square??
Something that’s literally insane to me is the amount of hypocrisy that anti-Jedi people have in regards to the Jedi adopting Anakin.
(or “kidnapping” him, as they’d phrase it—as if Shmi wasn’t literally saying “take Anakin with you to become a Jedi” every other line in TPM, but whatever-)
———
The Jedi: *adopt Anakin*
Anti-Jedi people/Stanakins: they kidnapped him, abused him, brainwashed him into suppressing his emotions, trapped him so that he couldn’t leave, and told him love was evil!!!
The Jedi: *say they probably shouldn’t adopt Anakin since their lifestyle wouldn’t be a good fit for him*
Anti-Jedi people/Stanakins: How dare they not immediately accept him into the Order!!! How dare they actually have criteria for someone joining like any other religion!!! How dare they have valid reasons for thinking that being a Jedi wouldn’t be a good fit for Anakin!!!
———
And it’s usually the same people saying both arguments, depending on which one better fits their argument.
Like…pick a side, for the love of god.
Should the Jedi have not taken him in or should they have taken him in? You can’t have both.
And if you think they were wrong to adopt Anakin, why aren’t y’all getting pissed at Shmi? She’s the one that kept pressuring Qui-Gon to take Anakin and train him to become a Jedi!
And you can’t say- “well, she just wanted to get Anakin out of slavery, she can’t be blamed” -because Shmi could’ve asked Qui-Gon to do anything with Anakin! Take him to an adoption agency, make sure he finds a good home, get him away from Tatooine and make sure he’s safe, etc.
But she told him to take Anakin to the Order and train him to become a Jedi.
And, even if Shmi didn’t know of any other options for Anakin, did y’all want Qui-Gon to fucking lie to her? Say he’ll train Anakin and then just give him to an adoption agency while flipping Shmi the bird?
Or would you have rather Qui-Gon left him in slavery with Shmi? Because remember, Qui-Gon tried to free Shmi but Watto refused to sell her, he would only sell Anakin.
Trick question! Y’all would bash the Jedi no matter what they did!
Like, what was the other option that y’all apparently have in mind? Since you keep shit talking Qui-Gon/the Jedi for literally every decision they could’ve possibly made.
It just…the hypocrisy amazes me.
