When I found out that, canonically, Hawkins' animal resemblance is a horse.

That made me wonder who would suit Marie. I eventually settled on roe deer 🦌

Faust: Oh, Captain! No, Marie is there at the moment. She wanted to cook something special for you, so she asked for my permission. I didn’t mind.

Hawkins: …Does Marie even know how to cook?

Faust: Well…I didn’t actually ask.

My headcanon that Faust is the cook on the ship. Firstly, a cat chef is just adorable. Secondly, his signature dish is biscuits!

Both Marie and Adelaide had Paramecia-type Devil Fruit abilities. However, their powers were fundamentally different in nature.

To be honest, Adelaide's abilities seemed far less 'sinister' compared to those of her great-granddaughter. Additionally, they were potentially much less harmful to others.

And about Marie's Fruit, it's a funny story!

You see, in Marie's homeland, there’s a unique fruit that grows natively in the region.

To be fair, it doesn’t look very appealing, but it tastes good - kind of like a strawberry

During the harvest, a Devil Fruit was accidentally found among the orchards and mistaken for one of the local fruits. The only difference anyone noticed was its more pronounced pattern on the skin and flesh. That was it. No one even suspected it was anything else 🤷‍♀️

And it all comes down to the complete lack of knowledge among the people of Marie's kingdom about Devil Fruits

A while ago, I drew this art and thought:

"Now I want this as a figurine of Marie, inside a little glass dome. And it should light up too."

Well, I finally got around to making this idea a reality!

The dress doesn’t replicate the original one-to-one, but overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out. I genuinely like the result!

By the way, I need to think a little bit, and maybe I’ll make something similar with Basil 🤔

Marie ate a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit at the age of 13, and it happened entirely by accident. This event became known in her family as the "Banquet Incident." Afterward, she was confined to a secluded tower for years and later sent far away altogether.

She learned the true nature of her abilities — that they were not the result of a curse, witchcraft, or "evil spirits," but rather the effects of consuming a Devil Fruit (as well as the existence of such fruits) — only nine years later.

As for whether Marie knew anyone else with Devil Fruit abilities: indirectly, yes. That person had a similar fate, though Marie’s story had a somewhat more optimistic ending.

To understand the context, it’s necessary to introduce her great-grandmother Adelaide, one of the past queens of their kingdom.

Adelaide was a woman with black hair and green eyes who also faced accusations of witchcraft. Her story became one of the reasons why people were so quick to believe that the "evil spirit" had passed down the bloodline to Marie.

Close monitoring of Adelaide’s female descendants continued long after her reign. Daughter, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters were scrutinized for signs of "curses" or "deviations." However, by the time it came to Marie, the youngest great-granddaughter, such suspicions had mostly faded. Her two older sisters were completely ordinary, which further reinforced the idea that the fears had died out with earlier generations.

Then, the infamous incident happened. When Marie’s eyes changed color from dark brown to green — one of the side effects of her abilities and an unfortunate coincidence — people quickly linked it to Adelaide, reaffirming their superstitious fears. In the eyes of society, the "evil spirit" had indeed passed on to the youngest princess.

So! This is Marie.

She’s my One Piece original character, and I’m actively working on developing her story and personality. Actively, as much as time allows, but I’m trying my best!

Because honestly, there’s so much I want to share about her: her story, personality, or just some simple everyday facts, but I don’t always know where to start 🤧

I’d be very grateful if you sent me any questions about Marie — whatever you’re curious about: her past, her relationships, or even some of her little details. I’d love to answer through text, or maybe even draw some little sketches. Or maybe not so little. Or maybe not just sketches 🤧🤧🤧

Hawkins: "I enjoy silence, Marie. Sometimes I prefer being alone."

Marie: "O-oh, I see…"

Hawkins after a pause: "Besides, they sing weird songs when they’re drunk. I honestly have no idea how I’m supposed to react to that."

Marie: "You don’t have to! Just join in and sing with them!"

Hawkins gives her a sharp glance, then looks away: "Absolutely not."

° Marie's initial time with the pirates was a true cultural shock for her. Her home was so far removed from modernity that she had never even heard about a lot of things. Like electricity, for example. Adapting to everyday life proved to be quite a challenge for her.

Here are the top 3 most terrifying household appliances, according to Marie:

Hawkins: "So, you're telling me that ghosts here don't scare you, but a toaster does?"

Marie: "Ghosts don’t suddenly spit out hot bread at you! Sometimes burnt bread! You must have noticed how no matter how much you try to predict when the bread will pop out, it still startles you."

Hawkins: "No, Marie... I haven’t noticed."

Marie: "Then, maybe you just haven’t been paying close enough attention to this phenomenon."

Marie: "Faust knows what he’s talking about. His fears are not unfounded."

Hawkins: "Alright. And what’s wrong with the sewing machine?"

Marie: "It chatters like a tiny mechanical demon, trying to pierce my fingers if I’m not careful!"

Hawkins: "Seriously?"

Marie: "Yes, and I, Captain, prefer it when my fingers remain attached to me rather than becoming part of a fabric design."

Hawkins: "You just need more practice."

Marie: "By the time I get enough practice, I won’t have any intact fingers left..."

Basil, slowly frowning, picks up the newspaper and starts reading: "It says here… a giant drake is looking for a nanny for the weekend to take care of his ducklings? Is this a joke?"

Marie: "What’s so strange about it? Ducks are parents too! And his ducklings are still so tiny."

Basil: "And why are you telling me this?"

Marie: "Because you’re going to help me. You can transform into a straw creature. You’d make a perfect nest..."

Basil: "Stop, no. Don’t even try to continue this thought."

It was a bit tiring to cut out all the details since it’s my first time doing something like this, but it seems to have turned out cute!

I absolutely love creating small artworks on characters' everyday/routine situations. But I come up with so many ideas that I'm not sure I'll be able to bring them all to life - especially since my inspiration constantly jumps from one idea to the next 🤧

So, I thought: why not share some of these concepts in a script format? These are the ones I might not have time to develop in detail, but I still really want to share. I might add a small sketch, but the main idea would be in text form 🤔

Maybe someday I'll come back to these and create something more detailed when inspiration strikes. What do you think?

Marie’s parents have briefly appeared in my another artwork. They are an example of marriage diplomacy, where there was no place for true love. Her father never aspired to be king and had no clear idea of what he wanted from life. Apathetic and lacking initiative, he left all the political duties to his wife. The queen, extremely concerned about their family's status, demands that all members of the family be perfect in every aspect to maintain the royal dynasty’s flawless image.

But, as you can imagine, things didn’t exactly go according to plan with Marie. 🤷‍♀️
