Okay so I’m watching The Good Place for like the 5th time and now I can’t stop picturing Katsuki as Eleanor? And I really wanna write a fic about it but have no motivation soo… sucks to be me I guess
so much love for characters who are desperately unsure whether they’re a good person, a redeemable person, a person worth saving, but are absolutely certain that they’re a grade a hottie
Rewatched The Good Place for the first time since s4 dropped and. Oh my god. The Good Place said "people are a result of their environment but we always have a moral responsibility to be better" and The Good Place said "every day the world gets a little more complicated and it gets a little harder to be good" and The Good Place said "even in the face of total nihilism, when nothing you do will matter, you still have to at least try. Because trying is better than the alternative" and The Good Place said "if you have bills to pay and shit to deal with you don't have time or energy to become a better person" and then The Good Place really said "people get better when they get external love and support. How can we hold it against them when they don't " and THEN The Good Place really said "no one is irredeemable. Everyone can try to be better today than they were yesterday" AND THEN! The Good Place said "Heaven is just enough time with the people that you love" OH MY FUCKING GOD.
No. We did. We do. You need to understand that we deserve good art. We deserve media that is both incredible at teaching the broad public very complicated philosophical theory, as well as be funny as shit. We don’t just deserve it, we need it.
Many people quit learning anything new after High School or College, if they attend. They have been traumatized by the education system so severely that they have a panic attack if they need to learn a new program for a job. People refuse to learn things because they seem hard, or because it sounds like something someone Smart would know.
Learning doesn’t need to be scary. Shows like this can do more to undo some of that fear of learning. Shows like this prove that people ARE interested in philosophy! People want to be good to each other! People can follow dense lecture and lore, as long as you contextualize it with something they’re already familiar with.
We can change things. Please, believe me. It doesn’t need to be like this.
Tldr; the Good Place is Sesame Street for adults, we DO deserve it, and we need to stop expecting television that has the same quality as Adult CocoMelon.
we really didn't deserve The Good Place. a bizarrely high-budget sitcom telling a longform, highly conceptual story that you need to have been watching from episode one, which was allowed to play out at its own pace and wrap things up when it intended to, and it didn't even lose steam over its four seasons. that's practically proof of the existence of a loving god

In the book Golden Girls was Crowley's favourite TV show. Is that also TV Crowley's favourite or does he have a current TV show that he prefers?

There are so many unintended consequences to well-intentioned actions. It feels like a game you can’t win.
- 1/28/2018 I drew most of this while watching the good place and scrolling through tumblr (mostly @lesly-oh's blog cause she's awesome) so I know I drew at least one of her oc's and while I may have started to draw the other like many of the other doodles they became a mix of tumblr and whoever's face I happened to be watching cause I forgot who I was drawing.
eleanor shellstrop one of the protagonists of all time honestly. woman who sucks so much who gets put in a situation specifically made to make her worse and instead she gets better. filled with love for other people but replaced it with malice for as long as she could because love got her nothing. went from being selfish for survival to selfless for survival and in the end she lands on being selfless for selflessness's sake. she even has mommy issues. she's even bisexual.
Bill: "So, Frills, just wanted to double check. How do ethical beings feel about murder?"
The Axolotl: "It's frowned upon."

*The Pines Family (and Bill) are gathered together in the Mystery Shack's living room as Mabel attempts to teach a lesson about ethics using the infamous trolley problem. Bill is fixated on doodling on the paper he's holding*

Handyman Bill: "Well, obviously the dilemma is clear: How do you kill all six people?"

*He looks around expectantly only to be met with tired expressions, too used to this kind of mayhem*

Mabel: "Yeah. Ten more more, buddy."
*She flips around the blackboard she had borrowed from Ford to use for her lesson to reveal hundreds of "People=Good" messages scribbled on the other side in chalk*
Bill: "People. Good. People... Why is that so hard to remember? "

If Izuku wasn't so self-sacrificing and took some time to think about his feelings, I think he'd go through this a lot. Especially watching Bakugo being friends with Kirishima, when Kirishima is basically the same as Izuku, just without the *trauma*.
Or watching Aizawa make time to teach Shinsou and believe in his abilities, even though he has a lot to catch up on, while instead he expected Izuku to be perfect from day one and never made time to help him improve.
