Somebody NEEDS to do a Hobbit animatic of 'Téir Abhaile Riú' by Celtic Women where:

The girl who wants to go with the sailors is Bilbo

The people that are telling the girl to stay are the other hobbits in the shire with their judgy mf faces

The sailors are the dwarfs

Galway is Erebor

The spoons - 'pick up your spoons, He's waiting to hear you play them' - are conkers coz Bilbo can play conkers

Bonus points if it's Bagginshield

Please I need this

Me and my brother have this ongoing thing where we discuss the Lonely bloody Mountain and honestly relatable

reminder to worldbuilders: don't get caught up in things that aren't important to the story you're writing, like plot and characters! instead, try to focus on what readers actually care about: detailed plate tectonics

I'm a big book nerd, right. And one of my older brothers walked into my room and was like,'You like to read, and you have The Hobbit. And I have the Lord of the Rings trilogy. And Dad has the Silmerillion (idk how to spell it lel). So if you read the Hobbit, I'll let you borrow my books and you can ask Dad if you can borrow his. And I was like in the middle of my homework :(

I could not get back in the zone for my homework after that and narrowly missed a detention for incomplete homework

rewatching lotr, and rewatched the hobbit trilogy like 2 weeks ago, and i must say. i love this franchise for all its “i knew a guy who knew a guy” relations. like to give just one example, gimli presumes for a second, like the whole fellowship, that frodo got injured by the cave troll in moria. but he’s actually just fine! because frodo just happens to be gimli’s dad’s boss’s situationship’s nephew, and therefore has the mithril shirt that gimli’s dad’s boss gave to his situationship right before gimli’s dad’s boss led the company to battle against, among others, legolas’s dad. legolas’s old situationship from like last year (60 years ago) was also there and chose, get this, gimli’s dad’s boss’s nephew over him. i love yall

I Decided To Redraw The Hobbits Hiding From The Nazgûl! I Was Inspired By The Nazgûl In The Animated

I decided to redraw the hobbits hiding from the Nazgûl! I was inspired by the Nazgûl in the animated lotr film but my version just ended up looking like a Scooby Doo villain (I kinda like him tho)

First Post!

I deleted my old tumblr because... man idk why it was covid-times and the prefrontal cortex was not in the room with us!! Anyways, I was reminded by my lovely friend @repecca that tumblr exists, and that some of my work has been going around on here, so I decided to post some of my work up officially! Starting off with my most notable (?) work to date, here's my LOTR: The Middle Kingdom Project. Now, it's been over a year since I posted this, and at the time I was... really searchingfor myself artistically, and I decided to go all in on something that I'd been ruminating on for a long time.

So, hello, again. I'm Leia. I do visual development/BG design, and I'm also a writer of things. I love fantasy and transformative work. It's nice to meet you.

The Book Keeper

Kili x Reader

Fandom: Tolkien

Summary: On an unsuspecting summer afternoon, Gandalf the Gray shows up on your front porch and, much like he did to Bilbo, sweeps you up into an adventure you never could have imagined. With the knowledge of things to come, will you be able to change the ending?

Note: For my sanity, we’re pretending the book describes the dwarves the way they look in the movies. Also I’m gonna deviate a bit from book canon and dip my toes (more like my entire leg) into movie canon just because things flow a little better that way. Also also, I took some liberties with the Dwarvish courting customs. I will probably also be uploading this to AO3 at some point, separated into chapters for easier navigation.

Bear with me and behold my Magnum Opus.

Warnings: canon-typical violence, the Hobbit spoilers, alcohol/drinking, some angst but a fluffy ending, mentions of injuries, kind of a slow burn but very fluffy

Word Count: 45k

Reader Is: Female, from our world, 23 years old

Stuck. You were stuck. You read the last few sentences back to yourself, but they didn’t make anything click. You’d lost your steam and now, you were stuck once again.

Writing was a lot harder than it looked, that was for sure, but writing something fantasy? You were finding the task nearly impossible. When you’d started the project several months before, it had seemed so fun. You’d grown up on Narnia, on Lord of the Rings. Building your own fantasy world would be quite the task, you’d known, but perhaps you didn’t know quite how time consuming it would be, let alone when you added in the characters and their characterizations, which fantasy creatures to include, how the magic would work, how the weapons would work and so on and so forth.

Thinking about it too much gave you a headache, so you sat back in your chair, closing your laptop. Maybe you needed a break. Some more caffeine, maybe, some stretches for your strained neck and sore wrists.

It's not about the war. But it is about the trauma

J. R. R. Tolkien: no, my books aren't about the war I experienced. It's just a story

J. R. R. Tolkien's works: you cannot go home, war ends entire bloodlines, you are mourning the death of your brother alone, you dug into the earth and permanently scored the land, you cannot explain what you have been through, you cannot go home, "that wound will never fully heal. He will carry it the rest of his life", leaving the women behind does not save them, the young die first, you cannot go home, the parent will bury their child, you have lost the wives and you will never connect with them again, "how shall any tower withstand such numbers and such reckless hate?", you are not the same, you cannot go home, you can never go home, your father will only side with those he sees as worthy bloodlines and you cannot change his mind, it is more meaningful Not to kill, sometimes your sacrifice accomplishes nothing, you cannot go home

My dad used to read it to me and my brother. He had to start again twice because we'd go on holidays and forget the whole plot cause he didn't take the book with him. We managed to get through it in the end.

for context: I read the hobbit first over the course of two years when I was like 13, but I'm only now starting to read lotr. having a blast tho!

anyways, reblog if you feel like it 🙌🏻

One thing that will never not be hilarious to me is my mom once telling me my dad hadn't met any gay people before meeting my mom and her gay brother and her gay friends.

What my mother meant to tell me was that my FATHER who has a group of UNMARRIED MALE FRIENDS OVER FIFTY, who has watched the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW LIVE at least twice, who is into DnD, Star Trek and Tolkien, has NEVER, EVER met a gay person in his life before meeting you.

And the worst part? He probably believes that too!!!

My point is that you've met a lot of gay people, you just didn't know they were gay.
