In 2011, I made a glorious queen-size quilt for my first apartment with my then-fiance. It was a big project for a first-time quilter, but it worked out and has made me very happy. And I made a small #lapquilt for my grandmother for Christmas two years ago. I have been promising my mum a handmade quilt for YEARS now, but life kept interrupting, so I put this big project on the back-burner five years ago. I had bought most the fabric I thought I would need to make a simple block quilt with red, white, and blue square repeating pattern, but it ended up in boxes as I moved. Flash forward to two weeks ago. I was rifling through my craft hoard *ahem* stash and found the bag that contained all the fabric!😄 I realized that just simple squares wasn't going to do my work justice or her justice, so I made a plan and decided to sew my first #piecedquilt for her. She served in the Army and was a Field Artillery Officer, back when very few women had any major roles in combat positions. I am proud of her service and wanted to make a "patriotic" quilt for her. So, using the red, white, and blue fabric, I've come up with this! The quilt will initially be sewn on my sewing machine, then #handquilted by me. It'll be perfect as a throw blanket and fits a twin-size bed. I have the first row finished for the #quiltblocks and have 5 more rows to sew. Update on the Leprechaun Catcher/trap/thingy: I know a little bit about fae (fairies, elves, brownies, etc.) lore and I learned that while most fae are relatively benign, a person definitely does NOT want to irk their ire. Leprechauns being tricksters, neither good nor evil, love to have a reason to annoy humans. But they will also help those in need. At no time, ever, does a person want to catch a Leprechaun to get wishes granted! They will be twisted and work against you. And if you catch a Leprechaun in order to get gold, well... don't. Just don't. Leprechauns can and will make your life miserable and always get their gold back. However, if you are in need of new shoes/shoe repair (or small help around the house) and you leave a piece of gold, or a bowl of milk out, the leprechaun will mend your shoes or fix what's broken as payment for your kindness. Leocadia's daycare is celebrating St. Patrick's Day with lessons about St. Patrick, the symbolism of the shamrock, and other....stuff.... And this afternoon they're having a party😄 However, I didn't get the memo sent out last week about the kids making a "Leprechaun Catcher" at home and bringing it for the party, sooo... it didn't get made😐 Now I have about 4 hours to come up with a "Leprechaun Catcher". We've started work on the bathroom!!! The awesome super carpenter guy hiding his face is John, the husband of my friend Melanie😊 He's already squared up the step for the toilet and closet area (we have wierd plumbing, don't ask 😒) and is fixing the wall to ready it for hanging sheet rock. I have to pick up some mildew killer/sealant spray for the damaged wood and walls and then we'll be able to move forward with mudding, sanding, and eventually painting after that cures for a few days! I'm so relieved that all the problems that weren't tackled by the previous contractor are FINALLY being fixed! On March 8th, this year, I reached out to @Mattel to ask about finding replacement parts for the #barbie Glam Getaway House that she had gotten as a gift. I asked if parts were available and if I could purchase them, since Mattel does offer certain replacement parts for sale on their website for most of their brands. The response I received was quick and unexpected. I figured I'd never hear back, or if they did respond, it would be an "out of luck!" Instead @Mattel replied the next day, was courteous, they found similar replacement pieces for the #barbiehouse, and didn't charge me a dime for them!😄 I am very grateful to the customer service reps at Mattel for their fantastic job. They have earned a new fan of @barbie in my daughter and have managed to bring me back into the #barbiefandom now as a parent and purchaser of #matteltoys (and former #barbiefangirl as a kid). To the man who was running into us with his kids wagon as everyone exited the zoo: All you had to say was "excuse me" or "sorry" and move over a little. Instead, you told your wife to move over because I was trying to get your attention so my kid wouldn't get hurt. You got offended that anyone would walk near you and snidely claimed I was "in a rush". I wasn't. I just didn't want you hitting us with your obnoxious wagon. You are a jerk. To the wife of said jerk: There was no reason for you to try starting an argument. There was no reason to be rude. EVERYONE was leaving the zoo at the same time. Having a wagon and stroller does not entitle you to take up the entire walkway and run people over and then act like it's their fault you're being entitled, rude shits. There was also no reason for you to insult me and threaten my child. YOU FUCKING THREATENED MY CHILD. Sll because I didn't want you and your jerk husband running us over. Yes, everyone had kids there. Yes, everyone was going to the parking lots. And no one else were being selfish shits and trying to threaten people and start fights but you two. My kid may have a mother who curses like a sailor, but at least I'm not raising my child to be an entitled ass that THREATENS OTHER PEOPLE'S CHILDREN! I should have called the police. It's been raining. Over the past two days, I got a yearning to go shopping and ended up finding some AWESOME sales, clearance, and #dollyfunfinds Yesterday, I went to target and a buttload of dolls were on clearance, as well as some accessory sets and clothes! I didn't get any dolls, but I did buy some accessory sets. I didn't take a pic of all of them 'cause they're gifts for some people😘 #spoilers After my #targetrun where I drooled in the aisles waaay too much, we hit a Goodwill store and picked up the Our Generation foal for $1.99!🦊❤🐎 Leocadia has an OG Thoroughbred horse that her G.G. gave her for her 3rd birthday. She named the *new* mama horse and foal after one of her current favorite tv shows: Vampirina. We now have Oxana and Vee. Adding to the fun, I found a bunch of tiny doll things, a #barbie fold-up house, and.... *Drum roll* .... An #americangirlbrand hammock for $1.99!!!🤓 I never get lucky at Goodwill, so these were super exciting finds for me! My mum got my car stuck in mud up to the rims. And this was AFTER a huge rainstorm AND I had repeatedly told her the yard was flooded and to stay ON the gravel driveway, and NOT to go on the grass.😑 We're waiting on a tow truck to come get it out.
